I agree with others that the rooms are small with few frills but I understand this is in keeping with similar Venetian hotels. The room was clean and the breakfast was commendable. The location is within easy walking distance of most attractions and not over-run with...More
Small friendly hotel with a great character of Italy. Set beside a canal, opt for a canal view room. Very clean and tidy. Nothing was too much trouble for this hotel. 15 minutes walk to all main attractions, yet far enough away to obtain reasonable...More

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby
shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

You can get a waterbus from the airport the orange line to the Madonna dell orte (9 minute walk to your hotel) return about & €27 euro's each way give your self plenty or time on return journey as it is a busy service. I f your really flash or fancy a real treat you could get a private taxi boat which is €120-130 each way. The other possible option you could get a taxi or bus from the airport across the course water then you would need to walk from bus station or taxi rank not sure how long that would take & not sure if you would need to change buses or not! Hope this is some help to you have a great time .

Hotel is close to major tourist attractions. The starting point of sight seeing tour water buses and trains to mainland are little far from this place but by walk wouldn't take more than 15 mins. Rialto market and Rialto bridge are near to the hotel.
In general when visiting Venice, it's better to prepare mentally for walking than looking for waterbus.
