This hotel is in a perfect location, close to the train station and bus station. Easy walk from both! There was always hotel staff available - very safe feeling. My room had to share a bathroom, which worked out ok, but is not my favorite thing. It was never a problem during my three night stay though, and it was...

The room was clean. Didn't get any sunlight as it was on the ground floor and not much in Venice that's on first floor get sunlight as all the buildings are so close together. But we went there for the authentic experience and we were out most of the times so it didn't matter to us. This was the best...

The location is lovely- very close to the grand canal and easy access from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. The room was a double with the shared bathroom. It was small but had everything we need. The room and the bathroom were very clean and felt comfortable.

Friendly staff, great location, and excellent accommodations! My family and I couldn't have been more happy with our short stay. We felt safe and secure, and the place felt so home-y. We would definitely stay there again next time!

+++ Simple room, perfect basecamp :). Friendly service, 24/24h. Nice location. - Breakfast maybe is too basic - I expected more. -- And I would bring my own hairdryer next time ;). Price versus quality = very good!

I stayed at this hotel in October 2016 for three nights and found it very good. It was close to the train station (10 mins walk at most) and close to good food outlets and vaporetto stops. The room was well furnished and large and the hotel spotlessly clean. Staff were obliging and helpful. The single occupant bathroom was on...

I am one of those few persons who dare to travel to Venice with no accommodation, it was extremely hard to find one but luckily I found Hotel Santa Lucia and fortunately they had a free room with a shared bathroom (they offer also ensuite), and it was an amazing stay!! Now talking about the hotel itself, it is rated...

My daughter and I stayed at Hotel Santa Lucia during a weekend visit to Venice. I cannot say enough good things about the hotel. The location was perfect, only a five-minute walk from the Venezia Santa Lucia train station. Our room was lovely, clean and roomy. Our room had a sink only, so we used the clean hallway bathroom, which...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
