From a very beginning the staff were weary helpful. Breakfasts take form of selection of freshly made snacks. The Rooms are small but clean. The room service is very meticulous. The hotel is located in a very well located place - c'a 3 minutes from Rialto. A small drawback was that air condition didn't work properly. Fortunately the temperatures outside...

Situated in 5 minutes´walking distance from both Rialto bridge and San Marco square, the Serenissima Hotel is right in the middle of everything in Venice. As they say, it is the first impression that counts and I must say that I know very few other hotels where check-in and check-out is organized in such a super efficient and at the...

Great price for a stay close to both the Rialto Bridge and Saint Mark's Square. Comfortable beds, clean rooms, good shower with warm water. Don't expect great wifi, mini bar or flat screen (then again, if you're in Venice, you're not there for the hotel I hope!). Friendly staff spoke several languages (english and french included). Quiet and calm. The...

Five minutes walk from St Mark's square, slightly more to Rialto, easy to find, easy street to wheel your case along. Small hotel, but run by wonderful staff who are so helpful, knowledgeable, always ready to give you time. Rooms are comfy, but not big if you are thinking of spending a lot of time in the room - but...

Very typical venetian family hotel. Clean and friendly. Excellent buffet breakfast. Short walk from Saint Mark's Square. Close to public transport and there is a landing for a water taxi used by the hotel. Reception staff speak English. Not suitable for disabled travellers as there is no lift. Close to really good bars and restaurants. Room are of an adequate...

Dear Guest, Thanks very much for your positive review. You covered all there was to say. I am happy you had a good stay with us. Your review gives me the chance to suggest to all our future guests, who would like to arrive with the water taxi, to ask for the "stop" Corte Grimani - Boggi, which is the...

Our room was gorgeous - really spacious and with a large wet room en suite. Lovely garden to enjoy in the Venetian sun and it's only a very short walk from St. Mark's Square and all its glories. If you visit, do go up the Basilica's campanile (there's a lift) as the views across the city are awe-inspiring.

Charming and very helpful staff who can't be faulted but unfortunately they are let down by the hotel. Two of us stayed in a room that slept 3 on the third floor (no lift) where there was barely enough room to swing a cat - certainly two people could not move around the room at the same time without falling...

Stayed for a weekend. Shared a room with my mother. We thought if we got the triple room we could just about manage it, we couldn't. We couldn't move around at the same time as the room was so small. Also, beds uncomfortable and pillows SO hard I woke up in the night with neck ache. All the staff were...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
