Brilliant location, close to everything and staff were very helpful. They send you an email with instructions on how to get there from the airport which is priceless! The room was big and clean and breakfast was brilliant. Would recommend to anyone coming to Venice.

I stayed with my friend for 3 nights and we had an amazing experience! The room and the hotel itself were very clean, the guys at the reception kind and welcoming! The buffet breakfast was tasty and to everyone's needs. It is situated at a very central position to everything! I strongly recommend it and if again in Venice, I...

Thank you to Hotel da Bruno and all the staff for making our stay so lovely. Just returned from a 3 night stay. We stayed in the hotel itself on the second floor. Lovely room, with authentic murano glass shades and good sized bathroom. It was our anniversary whilst we were there and Igor and his team made our stay...

At our arrival we asked if we could stay a second night. They didn't have availability in the hotel proper, but gave us their nearby one-bedroom apartment at the same rate. The hotel room was small (as expected in these historic buildings) but clean and quiet, and the breakfast buffet was generous, with lots of meat and cheese options, including...

When we arived in the afternoon, we were greeted with a welcome drink ( orange juice) which was so nice. Staff at the reception were...

Didn't have any expectations, just wanted a reasonably priced hotel with a good location. I'm happy to say that my stay at Hotel da Bruno met and exceeded my criteria. Small cosy hotel with a great central location. Very nice and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was very good. I would stay here again.

The apartment was very nice, spacious, clean, right on the canal and very authentic. Location was great, close to everything but still quiet. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Overall we had a great experience with the Venice apartments and will definitely come back.

We stayed in one of the apartments. It was lovely. Very spacious for a family of 3. Great location with a only short walk to san marco's main square. Located on a busy street but quiet inside the apartment. It had 2 steep flights of stairs to go up, but we knew about this at time of booking - so...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
