Our room was smaller than the one we had in Tokyo a few years ago - which I didn't think was possible. Good location close to the square, loads of restaurants and shops close by. Rooms were clean and well supplied. Breakfast adequate - eggs and meats in hot box, coffee to order, pastries, cheeses, rolls and yoghurts OK. Boring...

My partner and I stayed 4 nights in the hotel in October. Breakfast is the only meal option, rooms are reasonably small but not bad. Staff are pleasant and speak good English. This hotel is certainly 3 stars but we still had a nice break. We requested a balcony room (like shown in some pictures) but were not given it....

Central location , good breakfast, v neat clean rooms and bathroom are the pluses... one can keep the bags with reception, even after check out by 11am, and return to get them when departing to airport. no elevators so one has to drag their bags on stairs tho a porter might be available .. we checked in at 1 am...

Room was TINY, no bath as advertised. Garden is completely separate from the hotel and is shabby and run down, covered with weeds - you wouldn't want to sit there of an evening. Looks NOTHING like its photos, all around horrible experience. For the money they charge it was a complete joke. Avoid at all costs, plenty of other hotels...

We spend 4 nights at the end of a three week Italy trip. The front desk staff were helpful whenever we had questions or needed help setting up a tour. Going outside and around two Corners to use the breakfast room was no big deal to us. I noticed a couple complaints from others - I guess they are lazy...

Both my wife and I have came to a conclusion that this hotel is the worst 3 stars hotels we stayed so far in our travels, including various parts of Italy. Pros: Great location. Cons: Rude and unprofessional receptionists. Room floor not cleaned properly and dirty. Check your the floor under the bed when you move in.

I don't recommend to anyone who goes to venice for the first time to stay in this hotel ! Smelly hotel, old furniture and unclean room. I regret that i have booked this hotel as it was expensive for nothing ! Useless!

We spent a weekend in Venice on our way to Croatia and booked San Moise. A very charming hotel. Ok: if you don't want historic flair don't go there but we had a giant room with a beautiful view to the courtyard. The wooden floorboards creaked when you walked on them but we have stayed in a beautiful "Schlosshotel" before...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
