Both my wife and I have came to a conclusion that this hotel is the worst 3 stars hotels we stayed so far in our travels, including various parts of Italy. Pros: Great location. Cons: Rude and unprofessional receptionists. Room floor not cleaned properly and dirty. Check your the floor under the bed when you move in.

I don't recommend to anyone who goes to venice for the first time to stay in this hotel ! Smelly hotel, old furniture and unclean room. I regret that i have booked this hotel as it was expensive for nothing ! Useless!

We spent a weekend in Venice on our way to Croatia and booked San Moise. A very charming hotel. Ok: if you don't want historic flair don't go there but we had a giant room with a beautiful view to the courtyard. The wooden floorboards creaked when you walked on them but we have stayed in a beautiful "Schlosshotel" before...

We visited venice in July it was a special romantic trip and was made even more special due to the lovely hotel we stayed in. This isn't a fancy hotel but had everything we needed from the Base. . Adequate room with air-conditioning. The breakfast was lovely and the view from the breakfast room was lovely of the canal with...

Quite by accident we managed to pick a charming and authentic Venetian hidden gem of a hotel with gorgeous canal views from our room. Gondoliers amble past regularly, the hotel being in a really quiet and quaint position but really close and accessible to the piers, shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again L Rabin Stourbridge England

We enjoyed our stay at the San Moise. Our room was a walk up 2 flights of stairs. The breakfast food was great. Our triple room was comfortable. We would stay there again. The front desk staff was very helpful. The minibar was value priced. We would stay here again.

We had pre-booked a family room prior to travel. When we arrived we asked if we could have a family room overlooking the canal as this was a special trip for our young granddaughter. The reception staff were so accommodating and arranged for a bed to be put up in another room where our granddaughter could see the canal and gondoliers...

This hotel is ideally located near st marks square. Staff not very friendly. Room was very small and to get to dining room we had to leave through front door walk around the corner and through gate to courtyard where you entered through another door into dining room. As we were leaving at 8am next morning i went down to...

Out of the hundred of hotels I coulee chosen for our 1st wedding anniversary w/e, this has definitely been a very inspired choice! It is walking (2 min) distance to San Marco Square and many other attractions like La Fenice Theatre etc. I strongly recommend a 'luxury canal view' room to make the most of the location. Breakfast is reasonable...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
