Just spent 9 nights at this hotel. Less then 5 minute walk to vaporetto stop and St. Marks square. Nice size rooms, good size bathroom with great shower and lots of hot water. In room air conditioners. Cable tv as well as good working FREE wifi. They even have a free printer so you can print your boarding pass from...

My husband and I have just returned from a 3 day break in Venice. What appealed to me the most when booking at the hotel was it's very convenient location - a stones throw away from the piers (the number 1 water bus which goes from Piazzale Roma down the Grand Canal to S. Zaccheria pier stop) and a 5...

We chose this hotel because we were arriving late and wanted somewhere that was easy to find from the vaporetto and ferry. The hotel is about 3 mins away and we had no problem finding it. The staff here are very friendly and helpful, breakfasts were continental style, our room was clean and comfortable. The air con is not brilliant...

We stayed in an appartment not the hotel although it was only abt 50 mtrs from hotel. Hotel staff were very helpful. Apartment was 1 bedroom, lounge, kitchenette and very clean bathroom. Air-con was very important during the 30+ C heat. Not even 5 min walk to San Marco Basilica and abt 600 mtrs to Rialto Bridge.

Although small in size our room was value for money. Breakfast is varied and substantial, and the shower and air conditioning works well. Many restaurants are in this area, some facing the Canal. Take the time to check the menus and prices. The staff are friendly and helpful but the only power point is in the bathroom. We also had...

The location of this hotel is nice in that it is directly behind St. Mark's Square, it is like a 2 minute walk. It's not really close to the water so if you take a water taxi you have to lug your bags about 200 yards to the hotel but that is minor. We had an apartment and the unit...

Very nice clean hotel located in the center of Venice two minute walk from Piazza San Marco. Staff is very polite English speaking and helpful. Rooms are small furnished old Italian style. Perfect place for overnight stay in Venice.

Excellent location just a few yards from the watertaxis and the main promenade to San Marco. Superb staff who were extremely pleasant and helpful. Don't go here if you want full hotel facilities like swimming pool and food all day - it's a small hotel with an excellent breakfast but no other amenities.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
