Sparsely appointed, the property requires quiet after 10pm which would be great but for the drunks outside jumping in the canals. No ac which is also ok but the fan in the room had to be propped up with a chair to keep from falling over. Shower and lift very tiny as was breakfast which was offered during a 75...

Thanks for your comments which allow us to improve what is under our control. We had changed the fan which was not working properly and we thank you for that. Very sorry that you were (as we are) disturbed by drunks who were jumping in the canals: this is forbidden by the law and it is not safe either. A...

Love this out-of-the-beaten path location. The history of the building... architecture, marble and wood, and frescos on the walls made for such a great feeling of really being in Venice. We were close to everything but not in high traffic area. The nearby square is cozy and fun. Breakfast is adequate (bread, yogurt, and cereal), though we went to the...

When travelling to a city, the main point to choose an accomodation is that it's most central and clean. The Foresteria Valdese has been a very good choice for both. The room has been very clean, with freskoes on the walls and quite new bathroom. The contact was friendly and quick. To be honest, I'd never choose canal view again,...

Thank-you very much for your kindness and for the friendly comments. We do have 2 different coffee machines and, after your comments, we have been testing some other types of coffee! We hope to improve that point: we are very fond of coffee ourselves so it is important that our guests are happy with it! THANK-YOU for having chosen Foresteria...

I took a group of 20 international high school students to the Venice Art Biennale. I had been at the Foresteria twice about ten years ago and had a positive experience back then. We rented a large room for my sister and I and two kids facing the canal. All went well...nice service, fun environment, clean. This time, the service...

Being not far from both St Mark's Square and the Rialto this is a great location and is in quite a quiet area. The hostel is comfortable and one of the greatest advantages is the breakfast room which provides a great communal facility.

This hostels in excellent position in Venice. You can book hostel solution and also double room. Same are with ancient frescoed ceilings. Breakfast is included. Good price for the levels of Venice that is very expensive. It's very closed to a typical library called "Acqua alta" that i suggest to visit

This was our first time staying at a hostel and it was a wonderful experience. We loved the uniqueness of the room and the shared area. The location was perfect for exploring the street and alleys of Venice.

This hostel is by far the most beautiful hostel I've stayed in! It was really fun to stay in and was in a nice location. Great breakfast, pretty views right outside our window and really helpful staff! I would definitely suggest this hostel for your next trip to Venice!

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Foresteria Valdese is one of the guest houses of the Waldensian and Methodist Church in Italy. We are a non-profit making guest house: our mission is to create value to our customers and the income is used to fund and sustain social projects in Italy and in the world for youth and elderly people. The house is just few minutes away from St. Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge. It offers to its guests a warm and welcoming environment in a typical eighteenth century palace and it is a perfect starting point to visit such a magic city as Venice is. The Foresteria offers bed and breakfast accommodation for singles, couples, families and groups. No AC, we have fans in the rooms. Some rooms are with canal view and some are decorated with frescoes. We have bedrooms for 2/3/4 people and family rooms for 6/8/9 people. They all have either ensuite or private bathrooms. Breakfast hall is also available for your own picnic, you can use 2 fridges and 1 microwave. Concert hall is also available for conferences. Every 5 days we change the linen. Some rooms have TV, and there is a TV in 2nd floor near the children corner. Hairdryer and other accessories are available in reception. ... more   less
