Hotel Canaletto beautiful traditional hotel situated between St Mark Square and Rialto Bridge. I love to stay in traditional hotels where i feel like i'm in an authentic Venitian Palace. The rooms can also have a view on the Canal, perfect spot to just relax and enjoy a glass of wine. Great location, great service, great room and great price.

although the room was quite small, it had everything necessary. Nice Venetian mirror and lamp. The damast-covered walls were agreeable in winter time. Only the marble floor was quite cold to the feet in January and Slippers would have been welcome.

Get the directions from the hotel website or you will have trouble finding it. Bus from airport is €7.50 each way. Then water bus number 2 to Rialtto is €8 each way. Hotel rooms are clean with free wifi. Breakfast is good. The reception and breakfast staff were all friendly. Reception staff all spoke excellent English and were very helpful....

A typical Venetian hotel central located in a quiet area between St Marks Square and Rialto Bridge and surrounded by small shops and restaurants. The standard rooms are off medium size, well decorated with mini bar but have a slightly small bath room they also have larger rooms available but our standard room was fine and comfortable for our 3...

We just got back from a one night stay here and found this hotel to tick all the boxes. Its central, traditional, friendly, clean, warm and comfortable. What more could you want? Igor was very welcoming when we arrived. The hotel is a little gem and beautiful. I will come back here when we visit again...hopefully soon!

We did have a slight bit of trouble finding the hotel on the way in - but who doesn't in Venice! Once we arrived, we felt it was worth the map staring and sign hunting on the short walk from Rialto with our luggage. A very short walk from the Rialto boat bus stop, and very convenient for exploring Venice,...

We'd heard this hotel was difficult to find, however, I received an email a few days prior to arrival with instructions on how to find the hotel and they were perfect. So take the instructions with you if you receive an email (we booked directly with the hotel). Check in was fast and efficient. There isn't an elevator but we...

This hotel is very lovely, warm and homely. The staff are very friendly, happy to help and never not smiling. Including the breakfast staff. For example our toilet flush stopped working (probably our fault!), we went out and told reception about the problem and when we got back a few hours later the problem had been solved, we were extremely...

The three of us stayed in a beautiful room for two nights. When we arrived there was someone there to carry our luggage upstairs for us for which we were grateful. While the staff were friendly, upon arrival the receptionist insisted on keeping our passports as he was trying to check in many people at the same time. Whilst we...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The hotel is situated in the heart of the romantic city of Venice, in a very quiet position just 200m from the beautiful St. Mark’s Square and the famous Rialto Bridge. It is the ideal starting point to set off through the alleys to discover the wonderful monuments and typical shops which hide all the ancient, fascinating mysteries of Venice. The hotel takes its name from the famous Venetian artist, Antonio Canal, who was known as Canaletto. The rooms where the artist used to live (1697-1768) have now become our elegant hotel rooms. A friendly, elegant, romantic and quiet atmosphere furnished in typical 18th century Venetian style, with stucco work, damask, hand lacquered and gilded furniture, Murano glass mirrors and lamps. All rooms are soundproofed and have private bathroom with shower or bath, air conditioning, telephone, Wi-Fi internet access, minibar, sat TV, hair dryer and safe. There are also our superior rooms with views of the canal or the typical square with the well-curb. The elegant public rooms (breakfast room, bar, TV room, internet point and Wi-Fi access) are all decorated with stucco work and the antique smoothed lime finish, and have some lovely reproduction of Canaletto’s works on the walls. ... more   less
