We booked on Expedia. The hotel is located right off the high end shopping street coming out of Piazza San Marco. The piazza is about a 5 min walk. The rooms are clean and well appointed. The hotel staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. THE BREAKFAST WAS AMAZING (and included) The ONLY downside, the bed was kinda hard.

We can't say enough about this hotel. We found this hotel via Trip Advisor so wanted to make sure we shared our experience here, as well. We would 100% stay here again. This was a true gem! The location could not have been better. It is located on a picturesque canal with a gondola stop. (You can ride the gondola...

Location was good, close to the square and a couple of attractions are nearby. breakfast in the morning had the usual bits and pieces, the rooms weren't great, very basic. Staff were quite nice, the hotel was quiet enough. Good value, but very very basic rooms.

Hotel is in a good location. The rooms were a nice size and breakfast was plentiful. The staff was friendly enough. But, I did find the rooms were dark and dated. Under the bottom of shower door should have been cleaned. Found mold. Don't know why hotel cleaning staff have a problem with this. Also, found mold in some of...

Lovely warm hotel in an ideal location, as many people have said, a few minutes walk to the water bus. We picked up our water taxi from outside the hotel for our complimentary trip to Murano. We were pleasantly surprised to find bath robes and slippers in our standard room, plus tea and coffee making facilities as well . All...

Nice small hotel with an excellent breakfast offer (special diets accounted for) and friendly front-desk staff. The room was reasonably large but dark and faced a blank wall to the south. (For a more sentimental touch, try getting a room facing the canal with the gondolas.) Given the hotel's central location, the price was reasonable. Good for an overnight stay.

Buonasera from Violino D'Oro (Golden Violin :)), Venice is unique but so small that the buildings are really attached, so most of the houses have widows that look at walls, but as you know the real venetian life is outside, crossing bridges, hearing for gondoliers singing and exploring the hidden small streets! For your next visit reserve a room with...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
