This hotel is totally fabulous, our room was perfect, the bathroom and room were both kept spotlessly clean. The location is just great, I've been to Venice before and never had such a great location. Breakfast was good, really lovely choice of hot and cold food and drinks, friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again 100%. Thanks for having...

This hotel is perfectly placed 3 minutes or so from San Marco and the grand canal. The gondolas outside are great to hear in a morning a bit of local life going on outside your window. Nice size Venetian style rooms with a nice bathroom and a show. Very welcoming staff on reception and at breakfast. The only downside I...

Hotel and the room was very clean. The room was small compared to Hotels in the USA but had enough room for all our luggage and to move around. Hotel breakfast was good and the service was excellent! We walked there from the train station and with luggage took about 40 min. 2 minutes from St. Marks Square so it...

Comfortable bed, good breakfasts, hotel location is great for all major attractions. Staff on the whole good especially the gentleman on reception desk and young lady with glasses in breakfast room. The one suggestion, there could be coffee and tea making facilities in room and the room we had 201 we feel is in need of a paint job. Overall...

An excellent hotel less than 5 minutes walk from San Marco and in a street with many high end shops. Daniela on Reception was extremely helpful and answered all my questions, that I emailed before arrival, extremely quickly. Her directions to the hotel were fool proof - even if I did get on the wrong vaparetto! The hotel was very...

I've just come back from a holiday in Venice and was pleasantly surprised with the location of this hotel. Venice looks huge on maps but this hotel is literally 3 minutes walk from the San Marco water transport stop. I had problems with my booking on booking.com as they cancelled it due to inactive card details the day before my...

My husband and I loved this hotel. The room was a good size and the view from our terrace was amazing. The location was outstanding as well, just a stones throw from Piazza San Marco and easy to explore all Venice has to offer. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only difficult part for us was understanding the directions...

Stayed here for a weekend in October with my husband and 11-year-old son – they had never been to Venice before and so I wanted somewhere central. Hotel has perfect location, 5 mins walk from St Mark's Square, right by a gondola stop and the high-end shops. Once inside, however, you forget the crowds of Venice and it is lovely...

Great central hotel. Nice selection at breakfast. No table service you do have to get up for a tea/coffee from a machine. We stayed in room 202 and yes there is only one mirror in the bathroom and no the telly didn't have any good english channels, but a complimentary bottle of prossecco on arrival and sheets changed daily was...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
