Hotel is very easy to find from the main train station and is located on a quiet back street. Overall we had a pleasant stay for 3 nights. It is located close to the main attractions and you could walk for hours through the streets. Breakfast was provided and was good quality. Definitely visit the roof terrace for good views...

The hotel is located within walking distance of the Santa Lucia train station which eliminates the need for a water taxi from and to the station. It is away from the busy tourist area of San Marco, which was a plus for us, yet walking distance there. The hotel is in a beautiful little piazza that leads onto the Grand...

Cute little three-star hotel in easy walking distance from both the train station and San Marco. Small room and bathroom, but clean and perfectly fine for me. Simple breakfast with good coffee included. Friendly staff both here and at the sister hotel Ca' Nigra, which handled my late check-in and watched my bags after check-out. I would happily stay here...

An Italian friend recommended this place to me and I would recommend it to other friends. Not only the situation is perfect, very close to the Santa Luzia train station, but the friendly and sensible treatment received from the staff always at hand for everything you needed. The only drawback was the temperature of our room, with 2 degrees in...

Close walk from the train station. Has front court yard that boarders Grand Canal. Three stories (breakfast room with city view on third floor). Elevator reaches all floors. Rooms good size for Venice. Full bathroom in room (has bathtub), Hotel staff very friendly, speak English, very willing to help with directions and great suggestions for restaurants and gelato. (Thanks Roberto)....

Loved the location, straightforward check in with helpful staff. Nice breakfast with views. We would be very happy to visit again - hopefully next year! We slept well and the area was surprisingly quiet. Also a short walk from Guglie where the airport water transport drops off, which we found convenient.

Stayed at thus hotel for 3 nights. It us in a great location. 10 mins walk from train station and right near a canal (but what isn't in Venice!). Also, it I located away from the crowd. The staff was friendly and held our luggage for a couple of hours on the day we were leaving. Now, about the room....

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel and it was perfect. Beautiful old building, very Venetian! Rooms were clean and kept tidy by a daily housekeeper, yes a small room, but perfectly adequate and reasonably priced for the city - clean and stocked with toiletries is all you need. Best part of this hotel was rooftop terrace for breakfast, amazing...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
