The staff was professional, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent with a wide range of choices. The rooms (2) were clean and very comfortable. The bathrooms were modern with good products. I thought it was a very good value. The location was excellent - a point I want to emphasize. The hotel is on a small quiet piazza but not...

Excellent choice close to piazza San Marco in Venice. Near to water taxi and easily walkable to all the most beautiful places throughout Venice. The staff (especially Michael at the front desk) were all very helpful and the room was clean and neat. Also, a good size for Europe and the free wifi is speedy and reliable. Excellent value (including...

Great location, clean efficient rooms and a good breakfast. The bathroom had all the needed amenities though it was long and very narrow which made for awkward movement. We loved that our room had windows that opened to the piazza, we enjoyed the sound of Venice coming to life early in the morning. The wait staff are friendly and speedy....

We stayed for three nights in October and could not have chosen a better hotel for service and location. As previous reviewers state it is so easy to get to just take the Alilaguna Arancio line from St Marco Airport, get off at Giglio and the hotel is a two minute walk down the little passage and opposite Santa Maria...

We couldn't have been happier with this place. I chose it sight unseen for its location and price--what a find! The rooms/lobby were charming, the staff was very friendly and helpful (which wasn't our experience at another hotel in Venice), and the breakfast was, well, superb (and free!). The hotel is very close to a vaporetto stop and centrally located...

This is a very quaint hotel that is in a great location, not far from San Marco, but in a very quiet square. The Vaporetta stop is literally a 5 minute walk away. Our room was in their back building overlooking the canal. It was great because at night it was very quite, and during the day we could take...

The service was exceptional, the breakfast well presented and filling, the decor is tasteful without being overdone, rooms very clean and well appointed albeit a bit smaller than a chain hotel, very pet friendly - the staff was very courteous and helpful. It is an easy trip to and from the airport - head to waterbus location and get in...

I stayed at Hotel Bel Sito late August before flying home to Melbourne... it wasn't until I got to the Airport that I realised that I had left my MacPro laptop in my room. I rang the hotel and they had just found it ... but as my flight was leaving shortly I told them I would arrange to collect...

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel while visiting Venice. To get there we took Valpretto #2 from the train station, got off at the Accademia stop and walked with our luggage to the hotel , ~1/4 mile. The hotel is in a very picturesque square and we ended up with a room facing the small canal at...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
