Horrible, absolutely the worst service ever received. The gentleman at the front was very disrespectful, rude, and insulting when asked even a simple question, such as directions. Do not ever go to this hotel!!!!

We walked into the lobby to meet friends that were staying at the hotel. As soon as we walked in the first thing the reception clerk said was. Please go!!! So we walked out and decided there is no way we would stay in an establishment that was so unfriendly without first finding out our purpose.

The front staff, Franco especially, were extremely helpful and spent time explaining the ins and outs of the city. The hotel was well looked after however, the bathroom could have done with a little modernising. The room was really spacious and the window opened right out onto the canal, which was nice. The decor was reminiscent of my grandmother's bedroom...

Very conveniently located, 10 minutes to San Marco square. A quiet location but the hotel is close to the San Angelo water stop which means all pedestrians need to walk past to connect with other parts. Very annoying if you are a light sleeper as the trolley bags make a horrible noise on the flagstones. Try and avoid rooms 1-4...

Close to the Valporetto station Hotel de l'Alboro is a nice hotel in a very good location. The walk to San Marco takes about 10 minutes. The staff was more than friendly, the view more than attractive, and rooms are comfortable, although not luxurious, and the innkeepers are very polite and helpful. Prices for Venice are reasonable.

This hotel has its ups and downs. I would like to begin with service, cleaners do a fabulous job, as well as the Philippine man on the evenings who is so helpful and nice... In the day the staff that run the hotel I have mixed feelings about. For example, the woman gives horrible looks and seemed to dislike me...

This hotel is in a great location as you don't have to walk far to get to Rialto Bridge nor St Mark's Square whilst it's out the way so you're not next to a busy canal which generates a lot of noise. The hotel is also situated a stone throw away from a water station (San Angelo) and if you...

The staff was awesome! He gave us a thorough rundow of the best sights in Venice, written instructions in the map for routes to museums etc, and sightseeing walks we would not have found ourselves. Hotel was comfortable and clean, and the location is good, close to Vaporetto stop.

Its a little gem walks away from st-mark's square and every other attraction. The view from my room was very nice. It was a double bed with 2 single beds pushed together. Great location only 2 minutes walk from San angelo water station, rooms clean bathroom very small however did not spend much time in the room. Breakfast has a reasonable choice and found the staff very helpful, especially the nice man in the evening who gave us directions to a good choice of bars and restaurants only a short walk away....

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
