Lovely little hotel! I chose this hotel because of its central location and reasonable price ($150 per night) and we were not disappointed! We were given the warmest of welcomes and our room was spotless and nicely furnished. Only small downside was our shower was a little small and my 6'1 rugby player boyfriend struggled to get in and out...

We found Casa Querini to be easy to find - a short walk from the water bus. Our room was clean and spacious with a view over the square. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and would not hesitate to return or recommend to friends.

The hotel is close to San Marco square but it is not that easy to spot. It is near the water bus dock. If you do not want to use their water taxi you can easily walk from the bus station in Piazzale Rom. It took us 30 minutes by foot with and luggage. There are a lot of signs...

Great location near St. Mark's: we walked everywhere. Only two blocks from water-bus dock, important since there are no land vehicles in Venice and you must drag your luggage with you. Pleasant spacious air-conditioned room. Your typical small European hotel with non-existant lobby and tiny breakfast nook but there are tables out front in the little square for eating or...

Great location and we enjoyed our stay here. We had a room with view over the square. We had breakfast outside in the peaceful square every day and often a drink in the evening. Friendly helpful staff.

After a lovely stay in a few other Italian towns, we came to Venice to stay at Locanda Casa Querina. The location of the hotel was spot on, being only a few blocks from St. Mark's Square. I can tell you now, that is the ONLY positive thing I can say about this hotel. The centralized location doesn't make staying...

My husband and I recently stayed at the Locanda Casa Querini. We read about this hotel in Rick Steves' guidebook. And we were not disappointed. It is very conveniently located--a 5 minute walk to St. Mark's Square--nestled in a lovely, quiet little plaza. We ate our delicious breakfast each morning at the outdoor tables that the hotel has in the...

We stayed here for two nights in June. Casa Querini is in a perfect location to allow one to tour Venice. It is a five minute walk to San Marco Sq. and all the action there. It is just up the hill from two very good outdoor cafes. Excellent food and wine at both. Our room was the smallest in...

I have been a world traveler for more than 40 years, and chose this gem of a hotel due to its location in the Castello section of the city not far from St. Mark's Square. I found this property to be a beautiful, quiet, elegant, and comfortable hotel with around 6 rooms, and I honestly felt like I was visiting...

I was very impressed with this hotel. The location was great, only a couple of blocks from St. Mark's Square, yet cozy and quiet at night. The room was large and airy with a safe. The employee's were a highlight! They were increadibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast was was amazing, so much to choose from. If you are looking...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
