Walking the best way to get around Venice. You take a 15 min. walk from the train station to the hotel into the heart of the Dorsoduro District of Venice to find the Ca'Pisani. I found this hotel for my family's holiday tour of Italy online through a couple of different channels. I booked it through Expedia but only after...

Having travelled to Venice on multiple past trips, we were looking for a unique and authentic experience, and we found it. Water taxi directions and advice were perfect as we dropped our Hertz rental car at the end of the causeway into Venice and rolled our bags a few steps to the water. At about 65 Euros for multiple bags...

Ca' Pisani is a small jewel. The facilities are pristine and artistic. The location couldn't be better in Dorsoduro, near the Accademia and the Guggenheim, with a short walk to St. Marks. The staff is helpful and gracious. We hope to return soon!

The bathroom was beyond expectation Breakfast was fine but nothing special. Checked out early in the morning which was handled efficiently and with care. Important: this hotel actually has very solid wifi...

Conveniently sited (150 m to Accademia and Zattere boat stops and Accademia gallery), comfortable, quiet and friendly, we revisited (and will revisit) this tasteful B&B with light lunch and dinner restaurant with pleasure.

I loved all the design elements, the location was great, breakfast was excellent. But what really made the stay so special was the professionalism, courtesy and kindness of all the staff from the porters to the cleaning staff and especially the desk staff. They were always patient with our questions and arranged transportation from the cruise terminal when we arrived...

This is a gem of a hotel in a quiet, peaceful area of the city, away from the crowds yet only a five minute walk to the Accademia water bus stop. It is smart and stylish, yet very warm and cosy. Our room was surprisingly large for a city hotel and beautifully furnished, and the bathroom was excellent and even...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
