We have stayed at the Pruili most years over the last decade and always found the staff most helpful. The location in Castello is suited to visitors who wish to be central to Venice but avoid the busy areas.. The classic style of the hotel is a reminder of the historic City in every room with rooms in most cases...

We loved the hotel and the room was nice and cozy, very characteristic and lovely view. As a couple we didn't appreciate that our "double bed" was actually two singles mattress push together in the same bed frame, wasn't very comfortable beside this little glitch, our stay was fantastic, brilliant Location, amazing breakfast will definitely come back :-)

We stayed at the Palazzo Priuli in Venice for a few days in September and came back again in early October after we returned from our cruise. From the reservation desk at first arrival we were treated extremely well treated and made to feel welcome. The porter service was excellent and was above expectation. The hotel itself is historic in...

The hotel is perfectly located, right on a canal with the prettiest little bridge to cross to get to the entrance. We loved the neighborhood. It was not far from the tourist sites but in a real neighborhood. Our room was on the ground floor so we were like 5' above the canal. There is an elementary school across the...

What's not to like in Venice? We ot off our ship and made it to Palazzo Priuli. Our room wasn't ready so we walked over that little bridge for a bottle of wine and an antipasto pizza and linguine with white clam sauce! Awesome! We past some time totally drinking in the splendor that is Venice. As you can see,...

Couldn't fault this hotel. The location is perfect. Easy to find, and moments away from the Rialto bridge. The room was dark - but this kept with the traditional Venetian decor and it was lovely. The bathroom was modern and had better lighting to do make up in if you wish. My favourite was the window looking out onto the...

This hotel is ideally located to all the attractions in San Marco area. It's located in the quieter part of the land which makes it ideal. Rooms are clean and reasonable size. Breakfast is also reasonable. Staff seemed polite and friendly.

We had a suite with a double bed and a small single bedroom. The room is spacious. The facilities are good and the building like most Venetian buildings are ancient but special as the chandeliers in the rooms are Murano glass. Our room backs onto the canal and it was enjoyable especially when the gondoliers sang on the gondola. Breakfast...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
