Neighbourhood
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at Cima Rosa for my friend's birthday. Everything was perfect, the place is beautiful and the location is ideal - not in the main tourist area but easy to get to everything, especially as it's right by a water bus stop. The B&B was quiet due to a french airline strike, Brittany and Valentina, were nice enough to offer us a room upgrade as it would have been unoccupied. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, would love to come back one day!

We had the privilege of staying at the Cimarosa in late September 2019 for three nights. The owner Brittany an American from Toledo Ohio was lovely as were the facilities. Right near a vaporetto stop so easy from the airport with luggage which is important in Venice. we stayed in the first floor room right on the grand Canal. Brittany suggested restaurants for us and then made the reservations. To our surprise she even came by to see how everything was going with our meal. They were all wonderful. This is Service that deserves a five star rating. The room was impeccable in every respect including A/C and sitting area with a direct view on the canal. The breakfast was made to order as well.

This was my first trip to Venice and this B&B did not disappoint. The location is wonderful - just walking distance from the San Stae station right off of the Grand Canal. The staff is wonderful and very helpful and responsive. I stayed in a room on the back of the hotel and I would splurge for a room that overlooks the Canal. My room was a little dark (they made sure there was good lighting however). The breakfast was nice and they can make you eggs to order if you ask. The main area for sitting and eating is really lovely and cozy. The owners are also lovely and live upstairs so the B&B is really an extension of their own home.

This is an authentic and beautiful Grand Canal palazzo sensitively restored and with a limited number of high quality rooms including three overlooking the Grand Canal two of which are lovely suites. The welcome and service is warm and genuine. The lounge is available to residents and is the location for beautiful breakfasts. There are a wide range of local restaurants and the hosts are very willing to advise and book. The location is great for all of Venice and very close to the water bus stop of San Stae. Water taxis deliver to the water door. We have visited three times now and will keep coming back. Highly recommended.

Stayed 3 nights in late Oct. 2019, with a regular room facing the Grand Canal. I believe they have rooms not facing the canal, but I'd suggest splurging and face the canal; if you're gonna be in Venice once in your life, it's so well worth opening the curtains/windows and seeing the lifeline of Venice and all its activity. The staff are top-notch and the included breakfast is well worthwhile. The front courtyard is perfectly quaint. The Alilaguna or vaporetto boats stop at the San Stae station, just a 2-minute walk from the hotel (though be warned that the hotel itself is not 100% easy to find once you get to the courtyard; there's no real signage but for a little note on one of the doorbells; their website's map gets you to the courtyard, but it took us a few minutes to find the hotel itself). Our room was comfortable and clean and the bathroom was large (and with a bidet, always a lovey European touch). And it's in a pretty quiet neighborhood (by Venice standards) that's near quality restaurants and shops that somehow seem a little removed from the tourist chaos of other areas closer to San Marco/Rialto. Once we got our bearings, we found we could be at the center of the city in no more than 10 minutes. A little pricy but well worth it.

We had a room on the canal. It was a beautiful room. The canal is noisy but it sort of added to the e perience for us. The bed was huge at least queen size. We had a bath with a shower over the bath.
