Lovely hotel, hidden away but central to boat landings and all the sights in Venice. Super breakfast (imagine waking up to the scent of freshly baked croissant in the morning) and very attentive staff. The rooms are charming and the baths well equipped and modern. A little balcony was in front of our room for a break in the sun.

Recommended by a friend and would happily do likewise. Short walk from Ca d'Oro stop, not too tricky to find with good directions. Don't be put off by front door down narrow alley and uninspiring exterior, this is Venice, remember! Staff, interior, room and breakfast very good indeed. Nice to be away from tourist hubub but still close to Rialto...

I booked four nights in the Apostoli Palace during January as part of my boyfriend's Christmas. We booked through Asda Travel for £209 for four nights in a standard room. The building was easily found using the directions given by the hotel's website. Upon arrival, we were greeted and shown to our room (Giovanni). The room was quite small, however...

I'm always a bit nervous about Venice hotels - will they be cramped, too 'frilly', too expensive and so on. However, Apostoli Palace is simply a lovely hotel, and one of the best I have stayed in anywhere, as well as fantastic value. We arrived late (half past midnight), but were welcomed instantly and shown to our very spacious room...

From the very warm welcome we received to the sad goodbye our stay at this hotel was magnificant. The distance away from the bustle of the main attractions in Venice is just right, a nice walk of approx 10 minutes takes you to St Marks Square. The room was beautiful and decorated to a Venecian style. Certainly a place we...

This is a very comfortable small hotel situated in a quiet, convenient location just a little away from the tourist crowds. We stayed in a superior double room for 2 nights and then had to move to the superior double with terrace for our final night because we had booked late and our original room was already booked for the...

We stayed at the Apostoli Palace in Venice from 5-9th August 2008 in a superior room. This hotel is a little gem, only 12 rooms in a lovely quiet location away from the hussle and bussle of the the main attractions. The staff were very helpful and had no problem booking tables for us at local restaurants which were all...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
