Me and my fiance stayed at hotel Mercurio last December and we were really amazed by our room, since we were accommodated at the executive. Beautiful spacious room, with great views (from all 4 balconies) at the canals and the really sweet, narrow streets.
My wife and I stayed here for three nights on arrival in Italy in early June and then for a further night in early July prior to flying home at the end of our trip. Great location (5 minutes work to Piazza San Marco), clean...More
Good European style hotel. Small rooms. Drab. But excellent location. Clean. Only a few blocks from the San Marco plaza and once I got my bearings easy to find. Right down the street from the Opera House.
Staff is very nice and gives excellent advice.

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
