Hopefully these facts were help you make a decision. This review is written to help others not suffer in a vacation like we did. Hotel is hidden away in quiet area off the busy streets, impressive classy entrance, professional front desk staff, especially Enrico. Front desk help also included helping me charge my iPad (as we didn't bring the correct...

Dear Guest, thanks for the appeciation for our Staff. I know the measures of some of our showers are a issue , in effect in our soon restauration works we are going to remove the bidet to enlarge the shower. Anyway the "mold" you saw it's not mold but old silicone that must be repalced. I'm sure housekeeper didn't replace...

My husband, brother and I stayed for 2 nights in May. It is a bed and breakfast- the breakfast is a variety of breads, butter and jam in a little basket that the owner brings to your room in the morning. We arrived at the hotel quite late (we caught the boat from the airport to Venice island late at night)-...

Nice hotel that is a short walk from the train station, which is important if you arrive by train and don't want to drag your bags through crowded streets and over multiple bridges. This hotel must bake their own pastries for the morning breakfast, because you wake up to an amazing smell in the morning. The breakfast itself is pretty...

We stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights prior to boarding our cruise ship. It is a good location for arriving from the airport and also getting to the ship via the People Carrier. The hotel is typically Venetian with small rooms but the bedroom was fine. A bit difficult without a lift with luggage on a high...

General: Location – Close to the Santa Lucia tran station, no bridges or stairs in between – very important in Venice! Hard to locate (“streets” in Venice have different shapes LOL), Google Maps directions will take you anywhere. To find it walk in the main street just outside the station, take the second “alley” on the left (right before Hotel...

We stayed in this hotel for three nights. The room was small and had old furniture, but fortunately the beds were comfortable. The maid kept the windows opened while we were out so we had problems with mosquitoes. The breakfast was good. Easy to find from the Santa Lucia train station.

My warmest recommendation, polite and very helpful staff. My mother and I had such a nice and memorable stay at this hotel in 2008. Close to the railwaystation in a quiet narrow calle and close to the canals and streetlife.

We were also travelling with Edward D'mello & family and it's appalling to note the attitude of the hotel staff. Imagine you land up thinking that all the bookings have been done, as mentioned by Martina on the previous day before starting our trip to Venice. We were shocked to note that the hotel staff had given the room booked...

We were disgusted with the service of Villa Rosa. We did a booking online for two rooms with Villa Rosa more than 3 weeks prior to our visit and when we were en route to Venice, the hotel calls up at the last moment saying that our credit card was declined. Despite that we gave them new credit card numbers...

We chose this place since this is closer to the Santa Lucia railway station. Though this is very close to the station, you might be confused if you try to follow the google maps directions. I was helped by one of the reviews, which detailed the difficulties of finding the place and mentioned the correct directions - As soon as...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
