We stayed here for a week in September. The room we had included a dressing area with 2 wardrobes and a large bathroom. It didn't overlook the canal - in fact our view was next doors roof but we chose this hotel to sleep in only as we wanted to explore Venice. Breakfast was adequate. Coffee machine, croissants, bread, cheese,...

Very disappointing when it is so expensive. No coffee in room, no tv, motion lights half of which don't work. A nice sitting area on same floor - dark so need lighting. Again only motion lights that go off every couple of seconds. Ridiculous! Go some place else! Have to ask for clean towels. Not worth the money! Pick another...

Very basic accommodation located in a historic 16C monastery. Excellent location, very clean and safe located near train, bus and canal. Continental bfast included. Close to excellent restaurants. Enjoyed being away from the craziest tourist areas in Venice. Venice accommodation is one of the most expensive in the world hence the room costs here are exceptionally good and should not...

How to view this hotel depends very much on your philosophy and what you are looking for. It is a fact that Venice is, in general, one of the most overpriced tourist zoos in Europe and this hotel, cheap as it is and located away from the craziest areas, represents a way to minimise your exposure to that during a...

Stayed here for a couple of nights before a cruise. Easy to get to from the airport. Right on one of the canal bus routes. Easy to get to the cruise terminal. Just across the footbridge to a very good restaurant area. Quite basic room but clean comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was good. Overall a good value short stay hotel.

When we arrived husband tripped on dangerous step inside front door. Later a young woman did the same and landed flat on her face. I swear the man behind the reception desk never even looked up!!! The room was tiny, could barely walk around the bed. No toiletries, nowhere to put anything especially in bathroom. No kettle, nothing in the...

Okay. Probably I have standards too high but also it was the only one available on booking.com for my stayed in Venice with my girlfriend but... 134€ per nice are definitely not worth. Probably 34 could be the correct price per night. The only thing I save was the location, 5 minutes walking to the port, and it has been...

Very good stay - clean rooms and delightful environment. Especially good for tourists wishing to spend the whole day outside exploring Venice. 10 min. walk from the train and bus station. Also you can easily access to the board water service, just about 7 mins of walk to the nearest boat station which takes you to the center of the...

This is a very good place to stay. Right close to the Piazzale Roma and the Train station. There's a church next to the hotel and the canal opposite the hotel. Just two buildings away is a co-op supermarket and it helped us to find it open (closes at 9 pm) when we returned from our tour back to hotel....

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
