The hotel is located close to main station. That was the greatest thing. Wherever you will go at the islands everywhere you can find arrows with direction to ferrovia - main station Santa Lucia. Venice is a place with labyrinth of the streets so the easy location of hotel is very important :) Hotel doesn't have lift. We had room...

The hotel waiter smoked on his seat,so the entire hotel full of smokes, very terrible!!!! The room is very small, your bag can't open entirely. But only one adventige is the location very near the station. But if you don't smoke or don't like smokes , absolute don't live here, very important!!!! By the way, the hotel have mosquitoes.....

Where do I start? Do they have a trades description in Italy? I know I was only on my own but I am not a hobbit and I would like a room bigger than a broom cupboard. Firstly I'd like to thank Anthony on the reception desk for delivering the worst customer service possible, as well as constantly muttering under...

I booked this hotel before the really bad reviews started appearing on tripadvisor and was quite worried when we checked in! But really, for a one star hotel it wasn't bad. Great location, the room was clean and quite big (we had one of the en-suite rooms and the bathroom was clean too) and the breakfast they provided, whilst basic,...

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I read previous reviews and decided that surely it cannot be THAT bad, so I booked anyway as most hotels in Venice are way to expensive so we settled for something basic. I have stayed in many B&Bs and hostels and this is by far the worst I have ever stayed in....

It was nightmare. because of this hotel and staffs, Venice is also horrible city for me. this is worst hotel I've visited ever. They don't have Any service and they just charge money every each things. In addition, they are rude and when I ask and request something, they always say No with silly reason.

This hotel served as our final stop while backpacking around Europe, and despite some of the dives we stayed in, Hotel Minerva really was somewhat disappointing. In Venice everyone is pretty much hell-bent on screwing over the tourists and this hotel is far from an exception, with extra charges for EVERYTHING. each room seems to have an en-suite, which is...

We were extremely dissapointed with this hotel. The only positive point is the fact that it's so close to the train station. Breakfast is not served, and our room was accross the street from the reception - we had to ask them to unlock the door every time we wanted to go in. We knew we had a shared bathroom,...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
