This was one of the most wonderful hotels I have stayed in! The hotel is in an 15th century hotel and the hallway and reception area is so luxurious! We had an economy room with private bathroom. The room was quite small but the bed was huge. There was a small tv in the room and air conditioning. The breakfast...

This hotel is near perfect! Great location - less than 10 minutes walk to main attractions and less than 5 minutes walk to the nearest supermarket. Staff were helpful. Great breakfast - the coffee machine makes great cappuccinos and super rich hot chocolate. The ground floor area opened up to a little canal where gondolas glide past - very lovely...

The staff at this hotel are unbelievably helpful!!! They went out of their way several times to make our stay more enjoyable. The hotel is a few blocks away from St. Mark's Square and is almost directly in the middle of Venice. The rooms are very nice and the morning breakfasts are wonderful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone...

Amazing little piece of history to stay in; this hotel is housed in a centuries old palace. The staff is amazingly helpful and attentive. The breakfast is a wide array of buffet items and we drank our coffee out on the balcony overlooking the square and canal. The only issues we had with our stay was the tiny bathroom (toilet...

Tucked into a small walkway near St. Marks is this very cool hotel. With only 10 rooms and a marble floor marker stating "1481" as it's construction date it was only right that our room had damask covered walls and a ceiling painted with cherubs and celestial subjects. It was by far the largest bedroom I have ever had in...

We stayed for 7 nights at this hotel during our visit to Venice. It took us a while to find the hotel but when we did it was easy to relocate. The hotel itself was lovely and had a very traditional feel about it. We had a beautiful room with a traditional painted ceiling. The staff were the highlight for...

The hotel room is spacious and nice deco. WiFi is only available at lobby area and we are staying at the 2 rooms which is located at the same floor with lobby and therefore, we can enjoy the free wifi. No elevator and located at a quite hidden location with different hotel name. But it's near to all heartland tourist...

Really lovely hotel, enormous room & staff lovely. Terrible water pressure on shower & rubbish hairdryer, but hey it's an amazingly central location at a much better price than most I saw! So how to find it?! Find Ruga Giuffa, the address is not this street but the entrance is on it! Walk up this little road past all the...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
