We stayed in an apartment rented through the B&B. It was nice to have room to relax and a kitchen to cook if we wanted, or just store our food. The air conditioning was excellent, and in Europe this isnt always the case. It was nice to have our own space and live like a local. The apartment had everything...

I stayed with my partner and another couple in the 2 room apartment for 2 nights in June. It met all our requirements, and after doing a fair bit of searching for budget accomodation in Venice, this seemed like great value for money and I'm really glad we found it. (We paid 120euro for the apartment (four people), per night)....

Going to Venice means to me being outside discovering and walking through this beautiful city, so B&B's are the perfect option to stay: a good breakfast and a cozy place to crash at night that is so quiet that it allows you to sleep well. This is precisely what Al Saor offers. The rooms are nice and are decorated with...

We just returned from a four night stay at Al Saor. We stayed in a triple room on the top floor. The rooms were very clean and the location you can't beat - within 100 metres of the Ca'doro water boat stop. Staff were friendly and the rooms very clean. It is within walking distance to all the great spots...

We stayed here for seven days. For the first 3 days we had the room with kitcheonette at the top of the B&B. Then we moved to the apartment around the corner. Finally, we had a room at the ground floor of the B&B. For anxious types, this is not for you. Francesco texted us the code to enter the...

Booked the apartment online. The owners gave us their phone number to call so that they could meet us at the water taxi stop near the Rialto Bridge. We tried to use the pay phone and couldn't get through. Walked down the alley way to a small little restaurant where the owner was extremely helpful and called the owners for...

We returned to the Al Saor (our little holiday hideaway) again this January and took an elderly family friend with us. It was out of season in Venice and pretty much tourist free. It was cold ... jolly chilly but the Al Saor was as warm as toast and so comfortable. The owners are so helpful and nothing is ever...

(1) It is a 15 minute walk to the hotel if you take a left out of the train station. We were disappointed that we took the water taxi & paid way too much for a trip that we could have walked. (We walked back on our way to the train.)(Ca'doro taxi stop.) (2) We really liked our kitchenette room....

We stayed in the apartment associated with the B&B. The location is convenient near the Rialto and very close to a Vaporetto stop. The apartment however was dank and musty and opened onto a tiny airshaft. The layout was cramped and chopped up. WE had virtually no interaction with the owner until it was time to pay the bill.

We just returned from a week long stay at Al Saor. This is our third year of staying here, and would highly recommend it to anyone and will continue to go back. The staff is extremely accommodating and helpful to any of our needs. The rooms were very clean and the location can't be beat.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
