the hotel is not impossible to find, it is at the 2nd level of the building at the end of the corridor after the restaurants and the bigger Antico Doge Hotel (can't miss this because Antico Doge has huge signs and is at the foot of the bridge). Use your online maps, it helps a lot. The hotel is not... More

Stayed here for three days. First it was hard to find. Second, the building was worn out, and looked dingy. You could occasionally smell the dirty swamps. Third, we had asked and paid for an extra bed, and the bed was VERY uncomfortable and I could feel the springs. The main double bed had bugs. There was no bed sheet... More

Difficult to find if your first trip. Once you find the location it is remote to everything that you may want to do from eating to sight seeing. The host and services were very pleasant. Will stay on the next trip and over night

To get there is easy, use water bus stop Ca' d'Oro, turn right into Strada Nova, at Campo del SS Apostonli (big square), turn right, over bridge, left, walk to end, through tables from Tratoria Al Vagon, at end, the door faces you is entrance to Rosa. Press bell on right of door to get in. Don't be put off... More

Two friends and I stayed at the Palazzo Rosa for four nights and had a great stay. Easy to find if you do your research beforehand, just a couple of minutes from Rialto Bridge so fantastic location. We stayed in one of the hotel's apartments, just two minutes (and over a small bridge) from the main hotel. The room was... More

I stayed in this hotel for three nights. After the first two nights my brother's back, neck and face was covered with insect bites. On the second night he pulled back the sheets to find the bed crawling with little black insects. We complained to the manager who changed our room to a new apartment. The following day my neck,... ThE hotel is quite hard to find at first...the welcome from a female was really good..she gave me a map Of the city and explained everything I needed to know. The room allocated to us was just next to reception so we could hear people talking to each other and people on the phone but we don't have sleeping problems... More

Very hard to find. Difficult to even locate on google maps. Here's a few tips to help you out: . Search for "ristorante al vagon", it is right beside this (at the unmarked door) right on the corner where the two alleyways/footpaths meet. The first room you enter will make you think that you've entered into a derelict abandonned building,... More

We arrived in the evening to this very hard to find hotel with an entrance at the back of a restaurant with a tiny name next to the door ringer. You walk into pitch darkness, very creepy!! Smelled really moldy and gave you that horror movie feeling... There are no signs to point you anywhere so you walk up several... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
