Our experience at the Hotel Mignon was excellent. The staff are all very friendly and professional. We were given a warm welcome at reception. She gave us maps and directions to everywhere we asked for and also recommended restaurants. The breakfast is continental and really good. Our double room no31 was on the third floor with a lovely small terrace....

This is a good hotel, with pretty (but very small) rooms. The staff were friendly and welcoming, proud of their city and keen to show it off. The room was quiet and the bed comfy. Breakfast is either inside or on the patio. Master the external shutters to ensure an undisturbed night free of light pollution. It's tucked away in...

As 2 friends sharing a room, it was a bit snug, but the bed was made into twins with 8 inches between. Tight quarters are very common in Venice. There was just enough room for the suitcases. The bathroom was very clean and had everything you needed. We chose the room rate with breakfast included and thought it well worth it....

Perfect location - really close to all main attractions but not noisy at all. Decent continental breakfast, but in case - a few bars, trattorias and pizzerias are really nearby plus COOP foodstore just one block away. Be prepared to bells at 7 and 8 am - sonds like a wake-up call for the whole city 😉

This hotel is located in the perfect location in Venice. It is only a 15 minute walk from the train station, and a 10 minute walk from Piazza San Marco and everything else on the island. The front desk staff was very helpful, highlighting all of the important sights on the map and giving us suggestions for restaurants and the...

Arrived at one am and found it very easy to get to. 20 mins on a bus to P Roma, 10 on the boat to Co D' Oro and a 5 mins walk. This hotel is just 2 mins walk from the grand canal. The walk to Rialto bridge is no more than 10mins. The walk to Ft Nova waterbus...

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. It's cozy and quiet. The single room is small, but then it is Venice, and space is a premium. It was clean and comfortable. It is a 6 min walk to the Rialto Bridge and very close to the Ca' D' Oro water bus stop. It is very well situated for...

Some friends and I stayed at this hotel on our trip to Venice and we booked the apartment suite. Must say the Hotel itself is tucked away in an alley but the main hotel is very nice and accommodating. The staff was very helpful and would gladly point is in the direction of what we wanted or needed. There is...

We were looking for a low cost break away to Venice main island and stayed at this typically Venetian hotel for only 2 nights but thought it was perfect for a short stay. The room was small but it had everything we needed. Breakfast was included which you don't always find, and the usual continental offerings were plenty for us....

Had a three night stay and booked quite late. We were very happy with our stay. Every member of staff we came across were very friendly and helpful from the cleaners to the reception. The shower was hot and the room was very clean and cosy. The only negative was that the wifi was that not good. The location was...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
