We stayed at the Locanda Novo (now called the Hotel Mezzo Pozzo) during Easter 2017 for one night as a pre-cruise stopover. The hotel is great - excellent location - right near the square at Santi Apostoli & surrounded by market stalls, shops & restaurants....More

A hidden gem. It's like an ornate dolls house inside- exactly as we had hoped/ imagined. The photos you see online are a true representation and it's truly lovely. It's just a 1 min walk from the st apostoli water taxi drop off and it's...More
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby
shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

Hi the vaporetto stop is only 25min maximum from santa Lucia, you get off at ca d'oro, walk from the stop to the main street which is full of shops, turn right and walk maybe 5minutes to a small square with a church on the left, here is a small alley/Street to the left of the church go up here and there is a very small sign on the second alley on the right down here are two hotels one is locanda Novo, on google earth you can see it clearly! All rooms I think have a bathroom apart from room 4 which was ours the wc is a across the hallway, rooms seem to be designated on arrival. Enjoy your trip!
