TPinch me I'm dreaming! That is how I would sum up my recent stay at Al Teatro B&B. The welcome is warm, polite and welcoming. The carved headboards are beautifully ornate, as is the matching furniture. You open the shutters and windows in the morning to be faced with the wonderful view of gondolas passing your window and, at times,...

The Al Teatro bed and breakfast is a gem . Relatively unknown, it was not in Rick Steeves' guide. It's very reasonably priced for Venice My family of 4 (2 adult children), stayed in late October 2011. This B&B is very small (only 3 rooms) but oozes charm and quality. On seeing my 2 adult children, we were upgraded to...

Venice mask Carnaval was always my dream. Finally i did it!!! It was realy like a dream come true. It wouldn't be so wonderful if my dear friend Claire wouldn't book us to stay at AL TEATRO B&B. The location is unbelievable, so close to everything. the room was so nice, looking over the canal, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was...

Well located close to the Piazza with only a short stroll in the other direction to the Accademia bridge and the quieter surrounds of Dorsoduro, Eleonora hosts this lovely little B&B with friendliness and helpfulness. Our room was huge and comfortable, with a lovely canal view. Would recommend to anyone.

This was a great find - just a few minutes walk from St Mark's and yet so peaceful. Eleanora looked after us so well - directing us to local restaurants, pointing our way to the Ghetto area and just being incredibly hospitable. We loved it here - a family home where we felt welcomed and where nothing was too much...

The Al Teatro B & B is wonderfully located (no bridges to cross on your way there and close to everything) and extremely clean and comfortable. Eleanora bent over backwards to be helpful, answered all our questions and gave us restaurant recommendations. But more than anything else, she made us feel at home: the B & B is in her...

This would have to be one of the best finds on our journeys. The location was perfect. The hospitality generous and friendly. The rooms comfortable and homely and the breakfasts delicious.

I just returned from spending 3 nights here. Al Teatro is conveniently located 3 minutes walking from St. Mark's square. I traveled solo and was looking for someplace secure and safe; and Al Teatro definitely fit the bill. My room was very clean, with hot water in the shower and Sat tv. When I said that my room was cold...

We really enjoyed our stay at Al Teatro in Venice. It was a little hard to find, but tucked away in a fantastic location within walking distance of St. Mark's Square. Our pink room with antique Murano glass chandelier and two windows overlooking the canals was fantastic. Eleonora was very helpful with tips about where to go and what to...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
