Location is awesome - steps away from the Rialto bridge and 5-10 minutes from pretty much everything else. Lots of shopping nearby. We had a standard double room with private bathroom. The room was small but it worked for us! The bed was more comfortable than we thought it'd be. Towels were more like sheets but they did the job....

This hotel has minimal services but provides good value in an expensive city, and is conveniently located close to the Rialto bridge and not far from San Marco. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful with local information. They gave us the names of less touristy restaurants that provided real local cuisine at good prices. Our room was of a...

Not the usual hotel experience, since we opted to stay in the Annex which was separate from the main hotel. It's located in another building, and is more like an apartment stay. We booked the double room with ensuite bathroom and were quite happy. We weren't sure if there was anyone else staying with us in the Annex, so a...

I had a very small single room. It wasn't fancy but there's nothing to complain about. The hosts were very nice. The room was clean... and above all, it was one of the best bargains in Venice. The only small negative was how hard the bed was, but I've found this to be pretty standard across Italy.

I stayed in a single room, in the hotel's 'annex' which is about 3mins walk from the main hotel building, on the next street. The room and the hotel itself is quite possibly the cleanest I've ever come across whilst travelling. Bathroom was meant to be shared with another single room, but the room was not occupied in those few...

Small room, but very clean, central location (although you can walk everywhere in Venice anyway), lovely staff, easy to get to and would stay there again. I had a shares bathroom, the bathroom was super clean and roomy - no problems!

It was just steps away from the Rialto Bridge, you can't get a much better location. The price was good and room was HUGE. Even had a beautiful Murano Glass chandelier. The bathroom was small but manageable.

Close to Rialto Bridge, it's the perfect location for anyone wishing to stay in the centre. Ok, the rooms may be small (ours was a good size), but that's life in Venice. For this type of holiday, you don't need a big 5* hotel room with all the bells & whistles, you'll be out most of the day. I was...

I loved this place! It has a good location, close to the center of Venice but also located in a little street protected from the crowd and the noises. The room was cute and we even had a little terasse. We felt so welcomed when we arrived the 2 girls who are taking care of the hotel are so nice...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
