We were very pleased indeed with this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location of the hotel could hardly be better, overlooking the attractive Campo Santa Maria Formosa, which is mercifully off the main tourist drag, but only a few minutes away by foot to St Mark's, the Riva degli Schiavone and the Rialto Bridge. The room...

My partner and I stayed at this hotel last week and had a really great experience! The building is lovely, our room was very nice and spacious, and the hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, which made for a really nice stay. The location is also great – bang in the centre of Venice, only about five minutes' walk...

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was a good size and had a nice clean bathroom with shower, tub set up. The stairs were steep going up but very wide and had a good hand rail. The staff brought the luggage up when we arrived and also brought it down at checkout. The breakfast was a very...

Stayed for two nights with my daughter. It lived up to all the reviews. We had request a triple room but we're given a double bed by mistake. This was promptly rectified and we were upgraded the following night.

The hotel is in a great location and the staff are really friendly and helpful. We arrived late and the receptionist helped us take our bags up to our rooms as well as show us nearby attractions. On checkout the receptionist kindly printed our plane boarding passes. The rooms also have a power charging station which is very helpful. Hotel...

I found this hotel via booking.com and fell in love with the photos and it is just as elegant in real life. The hotel staff recognized it was our honeymoon and was able to offer us a room upgrade at a reduced rate which was well worth doing. Not only that, they also went out their way to deliver breakfast...

What a great location - tucked away on a quiet square but just a short walk from all the main sights. Manager Guilia was both humorous and helpful. All of the staff were lovely to work with. Our room was made ready early for us as our flight arrived in the AM. The breakfast was always delicious and the cappuccinos...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
