A great staff, a lovely hotel nearby the train station, spotless room, nice breakfast. What else for a pleasant staying in Venice? I definitely recommend this little hotel, great value for money, very clean and with an excellent staff, so helpful and kind. It's ok for any kind of travellers. :-)

The hotel is just off the main walking street from the train station. It's a nice, clean hotel that could be a time warp from the 70's. The front desk staff was always friendly. We loved the automatic cappuccino machine with the included breakfast in the morning. Breakfast was pretty basic. The room was comfortable and pretty spacious. We had...

We wanted to stay somewhere close to S Marco Square but not too busy, so we chose this wonderful hotel in the Venetian Ghetto. It's a no frills choice- small, simple and clean with a wonderful location and staff. It was the perfect choice for us!

The first thing to not about the hotel is it is only about a 5 minute walk from the water bus and train stations, only a couple minutes further to Piazzale Roma (last stop for motorized transport- the city is pedestrian traffic and canals only). I had to walk with a cane due to a recently broken ankle, this made...

We stayed here based upon reviews and the price. We had a triple room on the first floor (not the ground floor). We were somewhat disappointed that we did not have air conditioning - we did not read the fine print on our booking engine. However, we did not end up needing it and just opened our window. We did...

Pros: very close to train station - which is GREAT for Venice when traveling with luggage! Convenient for some restaurants. Clean and quiet. Breakfast provided. Good Wifi. Friendly staff. Cons: Not all rooms have a/c. Most staff do not speak English. Some distance from main tourism attractions (hot for walking in July, so maybe traveling by water would have been...

A small hotel with few amenities but very clean, quiet, great value, excellent location close to the railway station and drop off point for the boat from the airport and run by really friendly people. The breakfast was good and it's easy walking distance to the Rialto and San Marco. The water buses all go from in front of the...

Nice place . Be advised there is no air-conditioning so if you're there when it's hot it could be a problem. Hosts were welcoming and helpful. This hotel is right off the main street so shopping is great! Don't get thrown by the alley... good place to stay

Good value and closed to train station. We did spend 2 nights for this hotel. Staff at reception were very friendly and very kind. Breakfast is vey basic but ok for hotel rating. A little but far from Supermarket (Co~Op) but you can buy coke or water from the hotel with small charges. We travelled with 2 kids and both...

We stayed in a family room and found it very clean and comfortable. It was relatively small but it is Venice/Europe! The breakfast was fresh and tasty. It included fruit salad, yoghurts, cereals, bread rolls, croissants, juices and a coffee machine. The hosts were very pleasant and always helpful. The location is very good for your arrival and departure. It...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
