Here's the short & sweet. Good basic hotel but loses points with some reviewers over the minor details that could make it better. For instance, they advertise toiletries but these are really minimal in the room. Bed is comfortable, breakfast is good and the location...More
The hotel itself is an experience, get off the vapporreto at Academia Bridge ( make sure you take pictures on it!) and to little, narrow street, ring the bell and enter another century by inner courtyard. The staff is charming and very helpful. The room...More
This is the by far worst hotel management ever. Worst hotel managent. Fradulent, unethical. If you have no other option, pay cash at the property and don't share your banking information. They withdrew money from account without my consent. Their policy clearly stated that you...More
We booked this hotel for our 4 night honeymoon in Venice but were so disgusted we checked out early and sacrificed 3 nights worth of paid accommodation and booked the Hilton instead! We hated Venice on our first day and night and decided we didn't...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Vaporetto to the Accademia stop, then a short walk across the beautiful Accademia bridge. Fyi we walked that same route, takes you through the lesser known parts of the city and ~50 min but not ideal with luggage.

about the cheap and good eats, you really can't trust any restaurant as they work with mass. You may still enjoy by the grand canal a glass of wine and a dish at your disposal watching gondola passing feeling the atmosphere by the promenade. Having said that a kebab can fit your needs having a drink or coffee in what you think can suite your desire. Prosecco is served everywhere some are good some not so good. Trust your instinct and you'll be in the perfect place at the perfect time.
