This has to be one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in...and to think I got this great deal through Expedia!? The quiet but convenient locale, clean, spa quality bathroom, very tasteful decor, and awesome staff made it a perfect choice!

The room was very clean, silent and comfortable. The staff very polite and helpful providing city info, sightseeing, transportation, restaurants suggestions etc. The hotel is strategically located almost half way between San Marco square, and train station, and very close to a station served by a boat coming from the airport, about 5 minutes walking. A minor comment would be...

There weew aeveral good, affordable places to eat that were within walking distance. Rooms were air conditioned but somewhat warm. Beds were very hard but this is...

FIRST...MINOR CRITICISMS 1. Staff professional...but not warm or friendly 2. Not in close to action...but not far away...10 minute walk or 15-20mins via vaporetto SECOND...STRONG POSITIVES 1. Extreme good value...upscale and beautiful well maintained hotel for very reasonable price given Venice prices 2. Lovely small canal location far from madding crowds of San Marco...NO CROWDS...real Venice 3. Quiet..great night sleep...

Ai Mori d'Oriente is absolutely amIng. We stayed there on our honeymoon and could not have been happier. The staff is incredibly kind and willing to help with every derail, from arranging a boat to Murano to helping us pick a local favorite restaurant. We will definitely stay there upon return to Venice and would recommend anyone else to do...

Hotel rooms were nice. the lobby is ok. Cons - Our rooms were where is very awkward location. I think it felt like an "afterthought" location (like they gave us the worst room the had). There was the smell of urine in the back rooms we had to take to get to the room. Shower head is likethe one they...

Rooms and staff are great. Breakfast was wonderful. We had a nice view of the canal and could walk just about anywhere. About 30 minutes walk to San Marco, 15-20 to the Rialto. We enjoyed our stay and would gladly comeback. FYI- July can be very hot....

We stayed for 2 nights on our honeymoon and were upgraded to a beautiful suite. The hotel was superb and breakfast was delicious. So much variety too. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a dock outside that our boat from the airport dropped us off at. A bit of a walk to Venice centre but an enjoyable...

“Fantastic location” The location of this hotel is fantastic, simply because it's a relief to get away from the thousands of people ,and mix with the locals. Note if you have health issues or cannot walk far ,it is a decent walk to the attractions.i struggle with people who don't research their accomodation and as soon as they get the chance...

The Ai Mori d'Oriente Hotel was absolutely perfect for our short stay in Venice. Situated a short walk outside of the main tourist area, it allows you to have some peace and serenity before/after the hustle and bustle of the tourist sites. It is a maximum 10 minute walk to the Mercato Station on the Venice Vaporetto (waterbus) route 1...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
