It is at the banks of the Grand Canal, super close to the Rialto Bridge. Rooms are big not luxurious at all, but great for the price you are paying compare to other hotels with similar locations. Relatively close to the public water bus, but if you have a lot of luggage definitively hire somebody to help you with it.

I have stayed at the Al Palazzo Lion Morosini numerous times since 2007. The location is second to none. You are literally on the banks of the Grand Canal, practically under the shadow of the Rialto Bridge. The rooms are not always the best, some are far better than others so it's a bit of a lucky dip, but to...

Attentive staff, great location off of a side street, with a dramatic courtyard. Great price, and large room! I would absolutely stay here again. There is a dock for a water taxi close by or just two stops on the public water "bus". Great restaurant on the first floor (not affiliated with the hotel)

We spent 2 nights here last week and got a very warm welcome from Paolo, Debora & Flora. Our large red room over looking the Grand canal was very clean with lots of venetian style being part of an old Palazzo. Our En suite bathroom was rather tiny but very clean, but our friends who had a large room overlooking...

I stayed here with a group of 5 people young people in the quintuple room. The room was very big and spacious. The room was very spacious. When I had booked this room, I was told the room has a private washroom. However, the washroom was actually outside the room across a little hall way. There was one other room...

Sometimes its hard finding a place for 4 people but this hotel accommodated us in a very nice room. Typical high ceilings and red velvet drapery with a view right over the Grand Canal. The receptionist, Deborah, was very nice and welcoming and suggested a good trip for us to Burano and Murano. The continental breakfast was included in the...

We stayed here for one night and the experience was good. Room was really spacious but the shared bathroom was small. The caretaker was very helpful however there is no reception desk in this place. The caretaker left the place at around 8PM and returned next morning. So not much assistance available at night. The breakfast was pretty good. At...

Al Palazzo Lion Morosini didn't have great reviews when I booked it but it was a pleasant surprise when I visited. Nothing in Venice is new and neither is this place. It sits majestically right on the left hand side before Rialto Bridge coming from Piazzale Roma on vaporetto No 1. The room was huge, bed comfortable the bathroom spottless...

My friends and I decided that we wanted a quick weekend break at the end of our exams seeing as everyone else still hadn't finished their own. We arrived quite late at night and found the hotel hard to find but some happy italians directed us to it as there is a popular bar just underneath the hotel. The man...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
