Only 5 minutes away from the bus station and down a quiet passage this gem of a small hotel is well worth considering for your stay in Venice. There are 6/7 en suite rooms well furnished and spotless. Breakfast is continental buffet and can be taken in the terrace under a beautiful wisteria. We were particularly impressed by the level...

This hotel-cum-B&B (it has aspects of both) is situated in a quiet alley not far from the public transport hubs, although you would not believe it as it's so calm. It is also close to some good restaurants, osterias, bars and bacari. San Toma' vaporetto stop is just three or minutes away, which provides easy access to most of the...

This was my first time in Venice and finding this hotel was a breeze. It isn't very far from the train station which is good since when we arrived it was raining. They have a locked gate and door so it is very safe. Check-in was very simple and the woman at the front desk gave us a map and...

We stayed here after a cruise for three nights in the downstairs apartment. A quiet part of Venice away from all the tourist hot spots. So you got a great feel of the real Venice. Some lovely cafes close by and far cheaper than the ones near St Marks Square. Close to the train station. Loved exploring the little canals...

Spent 3 nights here for a weekend birthday away in beautiful Venice. We arrived very late, and although the reception closes at 8pm, we were kindly welcomed when we arrived near midnight. Fortunately the hotel is only 5 minutes walk from Piazza Roma where the airport bus arrives. The hotel is very small and spotlessly clean. Our room (the red...

Stayed here for three nights after three nights in Rome and this hotel was a step down. The room itself was very clean and tastefully decorated and the location was very good. The breakfast was ok and outside terrace nice but if the weather turns inside room is cramped. Our only complaint is the reception and breakfast waitress are very...

We loved our room (1) and everything about the quaint b&b. Loved the decor esp the toilet/ bath. Location was about 10mins or so walk from train station and can be accessed in various alleys. Room was big enough for 2 and air conditioning was working very well. Staffs were all friendly esp the lady at the breakfast room. The...

We *loved* this little B&B. We had a lot of trouble trying to find it at first, but that only served to prepare us for how confusing Venice is to navigate in general. As advertised, there was no elevator, so we had to haul our luggage up many stairs. My sister says she was able to hear our room being...

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
