Husband and I stayed here before taking a cruise out of Venice in June of 2013. We flew in the day before and wanted to stay somewhere close to the terminals. Excellent location right off of Piazzale Roma, and convenient to the cruise terminals.

There is nothing cheap when you combine the words "Venice & Hotel". It stands to reason that when you are in Venice you expect to pay premium rates for lodging. So when my wife and I decided at the last moment to drive over to Venice for a short visit, I was somewhat surprised that we were able to find... More

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights at the end of a cruise. It was good to know from the outset (our cruise also embarked at this port) where we would be staying. This hotel is in the hub of the transportation area in Venice and for that reason, very handy. The exterior lacks curb appeal... More

Venice is a very expensive city regarding hotels... Ca`doge is very good option specially if you are going to travel by for Italy, because is placed in the point when road arrive to Venice. Rooms are normal, clean and silent by night. All Venice can be visit walking.

We spent a night at the Ca' Doge Hotel mainly because we were taking a cruise next day. First of all the service is very good. Since the flight arrived late to Venice, they helped us by leaving the key and having the room ready. On the next day, they offered a room to keep the luggage in, which helped... More

Arrived into Venice early in the morning, the staff at "Ca Doge" greeted us and even though we were quite early allowed us to check in and gave us a day in Venice. Located at Piazzale Roma, the Ca Doge is right where the buses, train and taxis arrive from Marco Polo airport and right across the street from the... More

Booked this hotel for one night pre cruise because it was right near the buses from the airport and right by the people mover. That's where the plus points end. Surly staff to the point of being rude, dirty room, broken loo seat, blood on curtains, tiny tv that doesn't work ( was told someone will come to fix it... More

After extensive reading, we decided that this was the place to stay, as we had to stay in Venice for one night before our cruise. It is within 50 feet of the Piazalle Roma, where we get off from the ATVO bus which we took from the airport. The problem is that the PR was crowded with buses and people,... More

We stayed one night in this hotel prior to our cruise out of Venice. We stayed in the main building with no elevator but the person at the desk (a male checking in and a female checking out) helped us carry our luggage up and down. The rooms are adequate, but the a/c worked very well and staff were pleasant.... More

We booked this hotel prior to our cruise on The Ruby Princess of the Mediterranean . The location was perfect for us. I had read on Venice for Visitors that you might want to thin about how many bridges you wanted to haul your luggage over! We took the ATVO bus from the airport and the hotel is literally next... Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
