For the fifth year in a row, we spent multiple nights at Ca Doge ... this time four nights. We like very much everything Ca Doge has to offer. With a rental car, the parking is perfect and it is fun to watch the magicians...More

we are quite sure you cannot blame our hotel that your travel agent booked another hotel for you, probably it was Hotel Doge; it is a common mistake, as the name is very similar. That hotel is about 10-15 minutes far from the...More

Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture
universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.

we let you know that just one bridge separates the Railway Staion and Ca'Doge. When you'll exit from the Station, turn on right and walk for 2 minutes: you'll find in front of you a glass bridge to cross. Just at the top of the bridge, you can see Ca' Doge in front of you, in the opposite corner of the bus terminal square.
We came in on a cruise ship, but going back to Marco Polo Airport, I seem to recall taking the A1 bus. I'm fairly certain, the bus would be marked for Piazzale Roma, which is directly across the street from Ca Doge.
