In about 16 countries of travel, this was the best b&b i've ever stayed in. The mattress was amazing. Air conditioner in our room. There were sound proof windows over a beautiful canal view. Beautiful art in our room and within the home. Renovated bathroom - amazing. Beautiful breakfast spread. Lovely couple, great advice on locations to visit. Spot on.

I stayed in the canal room for 4 nights in September and wasn’t disappointed with the room or the view. A lovely B&B which is located on the 4th floor of the apartment block not too far from the main attractions but in a nice quiet residential area. Sandra and Leonardo are great hosts and can help with any information...

We stayed on two separate occassions in Sept (2016) : one for three days, and the next one for five days (after a six day gap when we went on a cycling side-trip through Parma-Verona). We had not stayed at this B&B before, and so we were taking a calculated gamble based on our research. Bottom line : the five...

We stayed at the attic room in Sandra's B and B for 3 short days . Everything about the B and B is simply beautiful. From the tastefully done decor of the rooms to the wonderful breakfast of freshly made pastries and cakes and beautifully sliced fruits, everything has been painstakingly done. To add to it Sandra and Leonardo are...

We've had the pleasure of staying in Sandra's attic many times now. The location is wonderful, the rooms are lovely and breakfast is a delight. Sandra and Leonardo are perfect hosts. We're spoiled. If they don't have availability, we just don't go to Venice that year!

Our family of 5, ranging in ages 19-81, was in Venice and stayed in Sandra and Leonardo's beautiful home. They made us feel very welcome and their breakfasts were first rate! More food than we could possibly consume. The walk upstairs isn't for anyone with any walking ailments but everything was perfect. It's a quiet location and within a walk...

I was in Venice with my daughter of 9 years and we were staying at Sandra and Leonardo's beautiful B&B. While staying there we met two very nice families (from Italy and the UK) when we attended the daily breakfast: Great coffee, selfmade Italian cakes and pasties, different kinds of bread, several kinds of cheese, salamis, mortadella, ham, Nutella, honey...

The rooftop suite is the ideal place to taste the good old Venice. Even my 17-year-old son appreciates the beauty of slowing down and enjoying a cup of tea in the altana. Sandra and Leonardo offer the best tip on weather and the best breakfast to begin the day in the lagoon. They are thinking of reducing the opening time,...

This is such a delightful place. Sandra and her husband are charming. Attention to detail and cleanliness is first rate. The room was so comfortable and homely. Instructions on how to get from the airport to Sandra BnB were so clear as we made our way with addled brains after 24+ hours of flying. The breakfasts are simply delicious and...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
