Hotel was quite tricky to find tucked away without any signage at all! We were allocated a double room with a sitting room and two bathrooms. The only drawback was that the room was on the ground floor at the entrance to the hotel and backed on the kitchen. Felt like a cave - would hate to have that room...

Once we found the place (down a not so well labelled side street) and got settled it was a nice experience. The location is perfect and we got to all the sites we wanted to see within 15 minutes of walking through crowded streets. It would have been even closer with less foot traffic. The room was nice but the...

Brilliant location just a stones throw from the main attractions. Countless picturesque little streets with beautiful quaint resturants and bars dotted along them surrounding the hotel. Difficult to find at first but I imagine most hotels in the heart of Venice are! Thumbs up

This is a great little hotel. The people here are so friendly and helpful. A bit hard to find at first, but then really easy and centrally located between San Angelo and Rialto. Charming and romantic- everything a venetian hotel should be.

We had an excellent stay in this charming calm hotel. The staff was gracious, the room spacious, we were in room 106, three nights. Decorated with taste, very clean. Don't hesitate a moment in reserving here !

This was a surprise find, having booked our trip to Venice late with not much affordable choice in the way of accommodation, but Ca' Fortuny did not disappoint. Close to Campo Sant' Anzolo and Campo Santo Stefano and only a ten minute walk to St Marks Square, having this as our base enabled us to really explore this beautiful city....

We booked this hotel because of its location, being no more than ten minutes walk from either St. Mark's Square, Rialto Bridge or L'Accedemia. We had been told that most hotels were small because of the area. We weren't prepared for ours. It has an extra single bed and a small kitchen unit. Plenty of cupboard space. The bathroom was...

Located in the center of Venice, walking distance to main attractions like San Marco, Rialto and Academia, big rooms with wonderful massage bathtub, fast internet, and the staff is kind and helpful. Breakfast is a bit simple but nevertheless we had a nice stay.

Don't know much about the general hotel standard in Italy but the staff was very friendly, perfect location while being very central also on a very quiet back street. The electricity was a bit... sketchy, but I do suspect it's normal Italian standard. If I would visit Venice again I would without a doubt stay there again!

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
