My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting Venice for the first time this year, and our stay was made so much more enjoyable by our lovely hosts at Casa Petrarca! The breakfast was delicious (and there was also a lot of it!) and the location is the best - being close to the Rialto taxi, St Mark's Square...

Gorgeous B and B at an absolute bargain in the centre of Venice. Friendly owners, great communication for check in. Breakfast was provided and perfect to start the day off. Rooms were simple but very clean and practical. Oh and super quiet, we had a great nights sleep every night. Perfect for a city break stay, I would highly recommend!

We spent two nights in Venice and stayed in this lovely hotel. Finding this place can be a challenge, make sure u save it to the google map. Owner communication is great and prompt with detailed instruction for after hour check in. The location is very central to most tourist sites. We stayed in room number 4 which includes a...

I stayed here in November. The B&B is in a key location, close to Rialto bridge, and St. Mark's square. Lots of little shops, restaurants, museums and of course churches :) I had a great experience, the room was clean and warm. The breakfast was good and fresh and had plenty of different options. Valentina and Stefano were really helpful...

The Casa Petrarca was the final stop on a three-week dream trip to Italy. I had actually stayed here with my parents 25 years ago so this was not only a place to stay, but also a nostalgic tour of memories. The hotel is a short walk to nearly everything, about the halfway point between the Rialto Bridge and San...

My wife and I spent two nights at Casa Petrarca prior to a cruise. The hotel was clean and well cared for. Hotel staff were very helpful both during our stay and before our arrival, providing easy directions from the Rialto to the hotel. The hotel is centrally located with easy walking access to the various areas of interest. Because...

It was my 3rd time in Venice but for the first time I felt very special. The Hotel Casa Petrarca is very cosy, clean (very important!) with a nice and quiet atmosphere. It is located in the heart of Venice (very close to San Marco Square). Lovely breakfast, lovely, open and very helpful owner Stefano. I can not wait to...

When the GPS couldn't find the hotel we thought it was a bad omen - couldn't have been more wrong! The warm welcome, comfy bed & great view from the breakfast table coupled with the very attentive (but not overbearing) service made our stay a delight. Ideally located in the middle of all you'll want to see and visit. We...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
