We stayed here based on price and location as it was an excellent value. The rooms were a little small and we expected a canal view which we didn't get. If you want this be clear when booking. On the positive side the room was very clean and well appointed, breakfast was lovely and the hotel was very quiet. The...

in a perfect location, between the Rialto Bridge and St Marks Square- everything is on your doorstep. The couple who run the hotel are extremely friendly and welcoming and were able to recommend things to do each day. The accomodation is simple and clean, and the breakfast served in the small breakfast room was perfect. I think you would struggle...

We were planning to visit Venice, and literally had no idea where to start looking in terms of where to stay. However, lo and behold an acquaintance of ours was going a week before us, and said he was staying at the Hotel Casa Petrarca. We looked it up, read the excellent reviews, saw how close it was to St...

We loved our stay here! We were upgraded to a beautiful view overlooking the canal which was just gorgeous! The breakfast was lovely (even for me with a gluten free diet) and we were so well looked after! :)

Valantina and Stefano (and their team) made our stay simply wonderful. They have ensured that their small hotel has a home like feeling and everything was very comfortable. It was very easy to get to with the map they provide close to check-in. Everything we needed was near by within walking distance. The room was warm and the wifi was...

This hotel is the perfect compliment to a complete Venetian experience. Situated on one of the narrow canals, we could watch the Gondolas and water taxi's float by. The accommodations are great, and the owners are friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here, again.

My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting Venice for the first time this year, and our stay was made so much more enjoyable by our lovely hosts at Casa Petrarca! The breakfast was delicious (and there was also a lot of it!) and the location is the best - being close to the Rialto taxi, St Mark's Square...

Gorgeous B and B at an absolute bargain in the centre of Venice. Friendly owners, great communication for check in. Breakfast was provided and perfect to start the day off. Rooms were simple but very clean and practical. Oh and super quiet, we had a great nights sleep every night. Perfect for a city break stay, I would highly recommend!

I stayed here in November. The B&B is in a key location, close to Rialto bridge, and St. Mark's square. Lots of little shops, restaurants, museums and of course churches :) I had a great experience, the room was clean and warm. The breakfast was good and fresh and had plenty of different options. Valentina and Stefano were really helpful...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
