After reading many, many reviews of hotels in Venice, my partner and I settled on this one. I have to say that it is utterly beautiful. We received full 5* treatment, as expected from such a hotel and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Not only did we stay in the Sagredo suite, which included five rooms and an entrance... More

Our first trip to Venice did not disapoint hotel was on the Grand canal over looking the rialto market. Staff were excellent and very helpful. The meal in the hotel we had included was good but not as nice as we had expected but overall a great experience. Once you get you bearings the Rialto Bridge is only 5-10 mins... More

Just returned from staying at the Ca Sagredo hotel in Venice. The hotel is absolutely lovely inside, our room was smashing and the location of the hotel is perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I would definately recommend this hotel to anybody going to Venice. As for Venice itself, I can't wait to go back!

We stayed here for three nights on a BA city break holiday and were very glad we made this choice of hotel. It was wonderful. The setting was perfect and the breakfasts superb. We only ate there in the evening once as it was very expensive but perfect for a celebration dinner.

We spent 4 nights at this property and I can't remember being greeted once by the front desk after check in. It's a small thing but you really expect to be acknowledged (by name hopefully) at a hotel with a five star rating. Sure it's an old building but it felt dowdy rather than grand and it truly has such... More

This hotel is a historic palace with paintings on ceilings, huge rooms and excellent location. It has two entrances: one from land and another one from the Grand canal. If you come from airport or cruise in a water taxi you are taken straight into the lobby. The rooms are very large with all luxuries. This is the hotel to... More

This was our first trip to Venice. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and the service was welcoming, responsive and efficient. After our first night we were upgraded from our junior suite to an Enormous suite because a pipe under our tub was leaking. The suite had a stunning fresco on the ceiling! The staff in the breakfast room were exceptional... More

Our first visit to Venice and it was everything we hoped it would be. It was our wedding anniversary and the hotel upgraded us to a suite with views onto the Grand canal! Breakfast was in the most beautiful setting and the walk up to breakfast from the lobby is stunning. Hotel is in excellent location and I highly recommend... More

Hotel is very well located, its sits on the grand canal and off of one of the main route from the bus/train station if you're traveling on foot. Don't let that out you off though as the hotel is on a very quiet side street. We arrived by water taxi, and the lady on reception came to greet us as... More

We stayed three nights in this hotel. The weather at the time of our visit was extremely hot and humid so we were glad of the quiet and cool of the air-conditioned interior. The location is excellent, right on the Grand Canal and just opposite the Rialto Market. This means that you are away from the teeming area of the... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
