The decor is very ornate. All service staff were superb. The bed was comfortable and my wife loved the bath. There is an awesome patio overlooking the grand canal where I enjoyed a cigar and aperitif. The water taxi from the train station was an easy transition. As we were walking around we saw many people struggling with their luggage...

Our room was much bigger than all others we stayed in while in Italy. It has a definite WOW factor in that it is restored to perfection. It feels as if you are staying in a castle, truly. We had a beautifully appointed room with a deep bath tub and elegant decor. It exceeded our expectations. The staff could not...

The Palazzo Stern was in a perfect location for us and it fronts the Grand Canal. It is situated next to a vaporetto stop (Ca' Rezzonico) with plenty of fun restaurants close by and it is away from the crowds of San Marco. The interior of the Stern is beautifully decorated. The marbled piano nobile has mosaics and modern frescoes....

Beautiful hotel in great location right on the Grand Canal. Conveniently located next to a vaparetto stop- this was a big plus as we used our vaparetto passes multiple times each day during our stay. Upon our arrival in Venice, the hotel boat picked us up as arranged at their sister hotel next to the train station. This complementary ride...

All the right attributes for the perfect stay in Venice. Position - within walking distance of everywhere you may wish to see. Hotel - well appointed and very comfortable. Staff - available, knowledgable and simply charming. The only downside were the arrangements we made through Tripadvisor for a water taxi to bring us in from Marcp Polo airport. From a...

We had a reservation in another hotel near the main train station but we were informed there was a problem with it so we were sent to this hotel. Maybe not so well located, excellent staff and service make you feel at home. Our room on the first floor was big but not very good as there was just one...

From the planning of our trip to Venice, through our arrival, stay and departure the staff at this hotel were superb; nothing was too much trouble. The hotel building has been very well restored and our room was beautifully decorated, spacious and very comfortable. The ability to make coffee and tea at any time was very much appreciated, along with...

Our fourth time at the Palazzo and it was as always a great experience. Its location is hard to beat. Set on the Grand Canal in a stunning spot, right next to a vaporetto stop so getting to and from the airport couldn't be easier, neither could getting around the wonderful sites in Venice. The hotel itself is a work...

Our first time in Venice. We decided to get the bus from the airport as I was worried of feeling sick after a long boat journey. I booked and paid for the bus in the UK, ATVO, so easy. I printed our tickets off, came out of the airport and the bus was there, it took 20 mins to Piazzale Roma...

The hotel is elegant and quaint. Situated perfectly at the grand canal. The walk to major attractions is convenient and not tedious. Plenty of stores on the way to keep you busy. Staff is polite and gracious. We would love to go back.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
