The hotel is on a curve of the Grand Canal so you can see far both ways. The boat stop is close by so we came from the airport & didn't have to trundle our cases for miles, searching. The waterbuses stop every few minutes during the day & you can get up to the Rialto bridge or down to...

We found this hotel through the Karen Brown guide, and were not disappointed. The hotel is a magnificently restored palazzo, with incredible attention to detail. It is small and intimate, the stunning architecture is beautifully preserved, yet the hotel has all mod cons, even a Nespresso type coffee machine in the room. The furnishings are sumptuous, bed so comfortable, and...

If you have a special occasion to celebrate (or even if you don't) ...... stay here! It is the most beautiful hotel !! The precious architecture all beautifully maintained and the bedrooms WOW! Glorious fabric walls and curtains, the venetian chandeliers, the mosaics in the bathroom, the comfy bed .... I could go on and on! The staff were absolutely...

Our second trip to Venice, and we didn't even look at other hotels. Our first stay at the Palazzo Stern was so wonderful and the location was so great that we had no reservations staying here again. Once again the staff were exceedingly helpful whenever we wanted anything. We stayed in room 304 (our first stay was the room above)...

We arrived in style by water taxi speed boat from the airport which was a great start to our holiday. We were checked and given a complimentary orange juice but as we were early, and our room was still being prepared, we dropped our bags and walked to Zattere for ice creams at Bar Nico (mentioned in Donna Leon novels)...

We stayed two nights at Palazzo Stern and highly enjoyed it. Not only was the hotel itself a joy to stay in, with beautiful tasteful Venetian decoration everywhere, a charming breakfast room and nice bar, not to mention the very good beds with refined linen. It is also perfectly situated. No dragging of luggage because the regular water bus as...

Excellent location (close to a vapôretto stop), beautiful building, friendly welcome, very good service, well diversified breakfast (which is not always the case in Italy). Really, to drink a prosecco on the terrace while looking at the Canal Grande is one of these pleasures which make life enjoyable.

We stayed at the palazzo stern for five days over valentines day weekend. It was wonderful. So romantic and beautiful, right on the grand canal and the terrace is amazing even in the cold. Buongiorno! Thank you for your very nice review. I'm happy you enjoyed your stay with us! The standard double you had is very nice, not the best room of the hotel (it's a standard), but with a view on the small canal which is a big luck here in Venice! Sure we usually give upgrades when we have any vacancy...

Palazzo Stern is a great hotel in Venice. It is on the Grand Canal. The AliLaguna boat from the airport stops at the hotel; however, make sure you take the boat that stops at Ca' Rezzonico. The information provided on the hotel website does not mention this. The interior of the Palazzo Stern has been totally renovated and it is...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
