Location: water bus line stop on the Grand Canal located a few meters from the hotel, a private water stop of its own, in the quieter Dorsoduro district. If you don't intend or can't walk a lot, purchase a multii-day water bus ticket; daily tickets or one trip tickets are too expensive. Staff: quick email responses to questions prior to...

We had the best time in Palazzo Stern. The hotel is relatively small, beautiful, with an amazing position right on the Grand Canal - just next to the vaporetto station. It is chic, yet unpretentious, very cozy and clean. We were treated extra special since we were on our honeymoon. Another thing worth mentioning is that there are a bunch...

We really enjoyed our 3 night visit to Venice and The Hotel Palazzo Stern met all our expectations. The staff were very welcoming on our arrival and very helpful throughout our visit. The room was very spacious and well equipped with a great view over the Grand Canal. The breakfast was buffet style and had plenty of choice with cereals,...

The grounds of the Hotel are nice, the room are spacious and the location is in a quiet neighbourhood away from Piazza San Marco. However we were expecting a Hotel geared for tourists however but found that staff had more of business hotel type attitude and were a bit cold. There are few incidents that made me feel this way:...

Buongiorno! I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us, but I think that there has been few misunderstanding about the behavior of the staff. So please let me write a couple of things regarding the things you pointed out. 1) The porter has been instructed to show you all the amenities and services of the room because it happened...

We decided to visit Venice for our Anniversary. A friend recommended staying at Palazzo Stern and I did not hesitate in using some extra savings to pay for this beautiful experience! This is the hotel we truly enjoyed during our Europe trip. We booked the superior room and it was beautiful with a grand canal view. They gave us a bottle of champagne for our anniversary and the services were really good. The coffee machine was broken, so they provided all the coffee and tea room services free of charge. The...

Buongiorno! I'm happy you enjoyed your stay with us. I'm not sure to understand what you mean when you say that the portion at the breakfast are not big, as it's mainly a buffet and we don't have any limit. It means that you can ask also 1000 coffees and you can serve yourself as many time as you want....

We stayed in the superior suite, with views over the grand canal, and the kids in the deluxe. The staff are all friendly, with english not a problem, recommending tours and restaurants. The building is beautiful and clean and the location, being on the fringe of the tourist sector we had a more local resident group of restaurants and bars...

This hotel is in a prime location on the Grand Canal, adjacent to the Ca'Rezzonico Vaporetto stop. (We bought a 72 hour travel ticket so we made extensive use of the brilliant Vaporetto system). The hotel is immaculately decorated, Murano glass chandeliers, fabric wall coverings, it really gives off the atmosphere of the "Palazzo" it once was. Our "Deluxe" room...

Our visit to Venice was made so much more pleasurable by the comfort and warmth of this hotel. The staff were polite and very helpful. Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
