We arrived by water bus from the train station, the water stop was just next to the hotel, which was helpful as we had heavy luggages. We were then greeted most warmly by hotel staff. The location is a bit off San Marco, and since it was off season, that side of town was a bit quiet. The walk from...

Buongiorno! Thank you for your very kind review, I'm happy you enjoyed your stay! The distance to San Marco (a 10 minutes walk is not far!) is one selling point of our property. It can be a plus or a minus, depends on what you want. If you are looking for a venetian area (where you will not meet only...

My husband and I spent four nights here for our 30th wedding anniversary. I chose this hotel based on previous reviews and I'm glad I did. I couldn't have been more pleased with this property. It is easy to get to, just step off the vaperetto stop Ca' Rezzonico and you are there. This also makes it convenient to get...

We arrived at the Palazzo Stern on the Alilaguna Water Taxi from the airport which is an efficient, reliable way to travel. We were warmly welcomed into the hotel and provided with information and a map. The accommodation, whilst not being given a room with a view, was very clean and comfortable. We did find the room very warm, but...

If you want the best Venice has to offer, then this is the place. The rooms are deluxe, the staff caters to your every need, the breakfast is the best I have ever had in a European hotel, and the location is the best. I could go on all day about this place. Yes it is a bit pricey, but...

We arrived at the Palazzo Stern situated on the Grand Canal by water taxi from the airport (definitely the way to arrive in Venice). We were warmly welcomed with a drink and were provided with a map and shown the key points of interest. Our room was in excellent decorative order and very clean, very comfortable. As our coffee machine...

Fantastic building, stunning location and helpful staff! As a family group, we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our rooms weren't deemed suites and didn't overlook the canal, but nevertheless were a convenient size, clean, quiet and had good bathrooms. We were welcomed with a soft drink on arrival and staff were always polite and greeted us as soon...

Beautiful small boutique hotel. Lovely large rooms. Beautiful view of the grand canal. Waterbus right next door - so convenient. The staff could not be nicer and more attentive. Breakfast was lovely! Located in Dorsoduro - with nice shops and less tourists. Close to Gallery dell 'accademia and the Peggy Guggenheim museums. An excellent choice for Venice.

We arrived in the middle of the aqua alta and got to the hotel wet and bedraggled. We were made to feel most welcome and (at 10am) our room was ready which was a HUGE bonus for cold, wet and hungry travellers! We were taken to a spotlessly clean, warm, very comfortable and spacious room (junior suite) overlooking a small...

As others have said this hotel is in a fantastic location and that's why we chose it. It's also a beautiful old palazzo building with a lot of character. But we were let down by the staff. We were greeted by the most helpful hotel manager and were made to feel very special. Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
