We stayed for 4 nights in early December and from the moment we entered the hotel it was the most fantastic experience. Our room/suite was superb with 2 full length juliet balconies overlooking the Grand Canal as well as 2 side windows. An enormous beautifully appointed Venetian style room and bathroom complete with jacuzzi bath. Room service coffee on demand....

THis was my 3rd stay at Palazzo Stern, and I will go aagain. Its location right at the Ca Rezzonico vaporetto stop, and the new Alilaguna directly to airport, makes it so very easy to get to. I love Dorsoduro and the streets so near the hotel. The magnificent restoration of this 15th century palazzo is mind boggling. Even if...

I searched for the best hotel in the city to celebrate Xmas and our anniversary in the city. I read many reviews and all of them pointed to Palazzo Stern. As difficult as it happens to be: I was more than satisfied! The hotel has a great location close to everything important in the city and the views from our...

My husband and I stayed for a few days in this delightful hotel with our teenage granddaughter. The room we shared was large enough to feel comfortable and everything was beautifully clean. The plumbing for the shower was a little unreliable, but that was our only caveat. All the staff were gracious and helpful, the breakfasts very good and the...

Palazzo Stern is a gem of a a hotel with a gorgeous Moorish theme in a great location right next to the vaporetto (public water taxi) so critical to getting around (buy a 3 day pass, don't pay for each ride!). It's next to Ca Rezzonica Museum and 5 minutes walk to stunning Peggy Guggenheim Museum and the Accademia (bridge...

Buongiorno! Thank you for your very nice review, I'm happy you enjoyed your stay with us! I don't think that the use of a GPS could be usefull in Venice, we have too narrow streets, and sometime these streets are very close one to the other so it's easy to get wrong information from these devices. Venice is not that...

My wife and I were thrilled to celebrate our honeymoon at this hotel. We booked a double deluxe and the staff put us up in a magnificent room overlooking the Grand Canal. My sister and brother-in-law were staying here in late June and arranged with the hotel management to host my birthday pre-dinner drinks and food. The position of the hotel and hospitality of the staff was superb. I felt honoured! The ride afterwards in the 1952 hotel boat was a dream. The evening was magical thanks to Hotel Palazzo Stern.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
