We stayed there in mid september for one night. It is tricky to find but if you follow the map provided by the hotel's website you won't have any problem. The location is excellent, it is very close tan San Marco, but still far enough...More
My Venetian holiday felt more authentic because of my stay at Alloggi Alla Scala. Located in one of the countless old buidlings in the San Marco sestiere (district), the inn is positioned in between the famous Rialto Bridge at the Grand Canal and the equally...More
Good value for the money, the direction to the hotel is not helping, need more clear direction to the hotel. Few minutes walking to St. Mark square. Very friendly owner. Clean rooms, tiny bathroom. If you are traveling on a tight budget, i recommend this...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Arrived back here on Sunday. I was wrong about the bridges between the Rialto stop for Alilaguna and Alloggi alla Scala. Not a single one. The walk from the air terminal to the boats is about 15 mins and is circuitous. I suspect there may be a way from the departure level but am not sure. By the way, its HOT here at the moment.
