Sometimes I really do not understand the hotels classification, I mean the stars they have besides their names. The Excelsior is trading as a four star hotel and this was, surely, some huge mistake done by who had that responsibility. There is no restaurant, bar, room service. Garage entrance takes you to Gotham. A computer screen works as a TV... More

Our two night stay here was pretty awful. Location is a little dicey, behind RR station. It's a big hotel, but there was virtually no-one besides ourselves staying here. When we arrived at 9 PM, all the lights were out except a small lamp at the front desk. Room was very small, but clean and serviceable. The buffet breakfast was... More

The Excelsior is known as one of the top hotels in Bari. I may have been unlucky to be there in the wrong season, or perhaps in the wrong room, but I had a small, dirty, squallid room, with lights that did not work, internet that did not work, shower that did not work. The corridors have lights actioned by... More

Apart from its location, which it can't help, it really needs to work on its customer service. It reminds me of Faulty Towers. The staff argue in the kitchens, dining room and on the stairs. The breakfast swings from OK to pathetic. The website said it had satellite TV but it didn't. The wifi worked in my room but my... More

If you like great views of urban degeneration, graffiti and railway tracks- this is the place for you! No restaurant, 10 minutes walk to the nearest restaurant! Wifi doesn't work it's necessary to connect via Ethernet, not much use for iPad and iPhone. I stayed at the equally appalling Lion D'Or some years ago, which must have been designed by... More

This hotel claims to be only minutes away from shops and restaurants in Bari centre - and it would be if there wasn't a blinking great railway in between! To access the main station or the FSE station, or Piazza Aldo Moro for buses ( including the airport bus) the only way is via a subway with a lot of... More

First of all: It is not the prettiest place, nor the cheapest. The breakfast is basic, too, but great if you have a sweet tooth (cakes, croissants and biscuits galore). But if you, like me, are travelling for business and need easy access to the station, the location is very convenient (2 mins walk to Bari Centrale, 10 mins to... More

The room was clean, the free cable Internet provides the perfect connection, the staff was fully Ok, friendly and helpful. The location as compared with the Center and the Old City is not bad. It takes max 10 min by foot to reach the middle of the central street Corso Cavuor. All together, by walking 15 min, you are in... More

Stayed at the Excelsior Congressi a couple of nights for a conference; the rooms were clean comfortable and well equipped (well I had one with a jacuzzi so yay!). Overall, nothing about this hotel was exceptional, but it was very well suited for a business trip, they have several conference rooms, and just a few minutes away from a choice... More
