Previous reviews comment about location and first thoughts, but within minutes of meeting Giovanni and being ushered around his palace you realise that you are in another world lived by the fish and famous of centuries gone by. Giovanni's house is oppulent and stunning, each room flows on like a mini Versailles palace, paintings, statues, murano glass chandeliers, parquetry floors,...

My first impression dragging my luggage down Via Maqueda was: what kind of place were we stayin? From the outside much of the street looks non- descript. It can be a bit hard to find, but find it we did after passing through an old car size doorway. The palazzo screams vintage elegance. Our apartment was immense, nearly the size...

We rented a two bedroom apartment at the Palazzo Montevago for two nights--would have been great for much longer. There is a kitchenette included and a dining table so this would be fine if you wanted to cook. Also a living room and large bathroom with good shower. Free wifi with good connection. Free parking in the palazzo courtyard. Elevator...

Spent 3 nights in this historical building, it was so relaxing with great facilities. Difficult to find, even the locals struggled , anyway we eventually found it, and it was worth the wait, central to Palermo, with parking, really comfortable accommodation, with so much historical charm

Beautiful appartment in one of the main streets of Palermo. Well equipped for la ong weekend exploring Palermo. Enjoy the Italian breakfast in one of the impressive rooms and feel yourself like a king. And in case of questions the owner will help you out.

Palazzo Montevago is proof that looks can be deceiving. Despite being a little hard to find, once you've walked inside it's like stepping back in time. Beautiful rooms, ornate furniture, and the host Giovanni couldn't have been more welcoming or accommodating. It's only a ten minute walk from the city centre, and the apartment we stayed in was huge -...

This is an old palace with a huge history. Unfortunately the owners could not explain it to me in English. The place is huge, majestic and lovely. The rooms are moderately sized though. There were issues with the wifi and plumbing, but at 90 Euro you cannot complain and its great value. I must warn you that its almost impossible...

Took a star off just for the difficulty in locating it. Had to run up and down the street and there was no name board or indicator . Even after entering the compound could not figure out if the buzzer was in the front or back. Thankfully someone peeped from above and opened the gate to let the car in....

incredible place - and palace - You can live in a kind of museum in the center of Palermo near all the beautiful monuments and location of the sicilian city. Vast apartment, historic reception rooms, Murano chandelier with the congeniality of the host. You may come to Palermo only to experience it.

Convinently situated on the edge of the old town this amazingly restored property is a mix of B&B and palatial palace. As mentioned there are a number of what can only be described as jaw droppingly restored palace sized common rooms one of which is used for breakfast. A nice way to start your day breakfasting in style. Within strolling...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The building of sixteenth-century origin, as testified by the elegant portal with archivolt that leans out on via del Bosco, was born as dwelling of Paolo Caggio, who founded here the Accademia dei solitari (Academy of the solitary ones). The original plant was subsequently restructured in the mid of eighteen-century under the project of the architect Giovanni Filingeri, brother of that Pietro's Filingeri. ... more   less
