We landed here because the B&B where we had reserved had overbooked and this place was her sister in law (just one floor below). The room we got there was like a prison cell (no daylight!), the bathroom as well as the towel were moldy and the sister in law did not speak any english at all. We could have lived with all that if the price was adjusted accordingly...but we were asked to pay the same price as for the originally booked room - which was outrageous! Definitely NOT worth staying here!

Response from BedMediterraneo, Proprietario at Mediterraneo B&B
Responded 14 Jan 2015

This place is correct and Monica, the owner, is very nice. But it is true that this is not the best place to stay at if you do not speak Italian. The room and the bathroom were very good. Breakfast was basic. Some bread, jam and butter and some cookies. Breakfast in an Italian bar is more adequate.

I stayed in Mediterraneo during 1 week in September 2011. Before my trip I choosed hotel or B&B very scrupulously by location / price / interior. I do not like Grand Hotels "gold&red" style and I never stayed in places with common bathrooms. I prefer international chain hotels for business trips or realy nice domestic B&B for vacations. Mediterraneo was best choice for me in Palermo. Why? Advantages: 1. Location. Close very center between Theatro Massimo and Politeama. But close to city district where lives Palermo citizens. Quite and peacefull. 2. Contemporary (for Palermo:) building of early 1900 with hight ceiling. 3. Price was very competitive. 4. Easy and fast booking from belingual official web site (very nice!) directly without prepayment and credit card block. 5. The room was comfortable and space, with huge bathroom. Stylish, comfortable and clean. 6. Monica was very kind! 7. Breakfast (coffee, croissant, yogurt, toast with jam) was enought. Cappuccino was great! 8. The atmosphere was very frindly and I feel there like in Palermo home. Next time I wil be stay only here!

The owner, Monica, seems nice enough, although she can only speak Italian. The place is very clean & the decor is very nice. We were placed in the 'attic', where the ceilings were very low & we had one tiny window, which made us feel like we were in a jail cell. The bathroom was nice & modern, good water pressure in the shower, but watch out because the shower door doesn't close all the way, so water can easily escape. There is a tiny closet on the landing. The aircon doesn't work, but the TV works. 'Breakfast' consisted of a croissant, biscuits, lukewarm coffee, & juice. Obviously this place caters to Italians, but to anyone else visiting from around the world, this would not be considered a B&B. We weren't even given the option to come downstairs to sit a the breakfast table (which we were never shown). The wifi barely worked & Monica didn't bother to check up on us after she received her payment.
