We traveled with our toddler to this hotel and arrived via car. While driving in Sicily is not easy, the hotel suggested a close parking garage that we were in and out of very quickly. The hotel was in a great location across the street from a long pedestrian lane with some good restaurant/cafe options and food markets. It is a bit of a walk from all of the popular sights in Palermo but it’s only about a 10 min easy walk. The staff was extremely responsive and helpful, even helping us with a few questions we had during our stay…be prepared to use WhatsApp in Sicily, it’s how we instantly communicated with the staff. The wine left for us in the room was a nice touch. Be prepared to supply your own basic necessities (bottled water, paper towel, laundry soap, etc) but there is a market so close that it’s easy. Giada is the cafe right outside the hotel, great spot for breakfast. They also provided crib and bedding for our toddler. Would stay here again!

My husband and I stayed for five nights at the Palazzo Planeta and loved it. Would definitely recommend it. Apartment was very spacious with a small kitchen that included a stove, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. Excellent location for all that Palermo has to offer. Alessia was delightful to deal with and gave excellent recommendations of where to eat and sites to see in this amazing city. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely apartment building very near the centre of Palermo. Staff were incredibly helpful before and on arrival. The two bedroom apartment was clean, provided excellent toiletries and complimentary wine and water.
The kitchen was well-equipped.
My only concern would be the road noise which was particularly bad on one night.
Definitely recommend a stay.

This is a charming place in a great location. The staff went out of their way to assist us. It is clean and well appointed, very comfortable. There was a bottle of wine waiting for us upon check in and wonderful bath products for our use. I would 100% stay here again.

Lovely place. Charming host who was very helpful. Kids’ apartment was huge (although slightly noisy from Road). Ours was smaller but really quiet. Really nicely decorated, great information, lovely Planeta wine, excellent recommendations. Really good location as well. All good!

APARTMENT: I stayed in Olivella a very large one bedroom Palazzo Planeta apartment, with a pleasant streetscape outlook.

It was on the third level for which there was an efficient lift which I only used with my baggage when I first arrived and finally departed. Otherwise, I much preferred the grand marble staircase of this stately and very secure building.

Olivella has timber floors with rugs, a mix of antique and modern furniture accented with a few interesting pieces of Sicilian pottery.

The separate kitchen was well-equipped enough to prepare a dinner party if you wanted. Of greater importance to me were the coffee machine with a supply of capsules and an easy-to-use, very efficient washing machine.

The bathroom had overhead and hand-held showers over the bath plus toiletries

LOCATION: Central and convenient.

I arrived by plane and the airport bus dropped me off about five minutes walk away.

Monumental Quatro Canti is less than 15 minutes’ walk away. Almost next door to that is the equally imposing Fontana Pretoria (fountain) and three churches which are all stunningly beautiful in quite different ways (Byzantine, Baroque and less-is-more simplicity, the latter being the one with the three red domes, an emblem of Palermo).

About another 10 minutes’ pleasant walk takes you to the cathedral with its tower and crypts then a short distance on to splendors and magnificance of the Royal Palace and the Palatino Chapel which must be seen to be believed.

And beyond them is Catacome dei Cappuccini with its thousands of fully clothed standing and recumbent skeletons, the like of which you’re unlikely to have seen before.

PEACE: Palermo is a vibrant city but the double-glazing muffled most external noise. The sounds I did hear did not undermine the overall pleasure of staying here.

WIFI: Easy connection, fast and reliable.

SERVICE: Excellent from booking to departure.

Before making a reservation directly with Palazzo Planeta, I had some questions to which Alessandro replied with helpful answers.

A pre-arrival welcome email from the Palazzo Planeta put me in touch with Mariella, who was to be my greeter. At the time I was having some difficulty sorting out the Italian timetables for getting to my next stop after Palermo, Catania. Before I’d even arrived in Palermo, Mariella emailed detailed and helpful bus and train alternatives (in English) which made planning easy. She was equally cordial and generous with her extensive local knowledge when she greeted me on arrival.

VALUE FOR MONEY: Outstanding. The tariff was reasonable in itself and unbeatable value compared to a four star hotel offering comparable accommodation. The pluses were the central location with so much space, the opportunity to relax with meals I could prepare myself from the excellent local Sicilian produce plus the convenience of a washing machine.

NEXT TIME: Definitely. I stayed here for four days and while that was sufficient time to explore many of the local sights, there’s still more that I’d like to see in and around Palermo. I felt very at home at Palazzo Planeta thanks to the hospitality of Alessandro, Mariella and their colleagues. These apartments are truly special.

My husband and I spent 2 nights in Il Capo apartment. Our communications with Mariella before we arrived where excellent. She met us at the apartment quite late in the evening since our flight had been delayed. She explained the apartment and gave us some brilliant tips on things to do in Palermo.

The apartment is newly decorated and furnished and has everything you would need for a few days or a few weeks. Comfortable bed, good linens and towels. Decent shower. Air con. Fully equipped kitchen (including a bottle of Planeta's red wine, its white wine and its olive oil!)

The apartment is very centrally located with a number of good bars and restaurants very close by. Parking is possible in an underground car park a 5 minute walk away.

If we go back to Palermo I would definitely choose to stay here again.

We enjoyed a great stay here in early April. The apartment is in a very good location, just off Via Roma. The airport bus drops you off about 5 minutes walk away. There are lots of restaurants in the nearby area and it isn't too much of a walk to get to the sights. There is also a small supermarket just across the road that sells all you may need. We stayed in the loft apartment, Il Capo, the roof terrace was great. Very nice to have some outdoor space. There was 2 bottles of wine in the apartment from their own winery, olive oil and water. The welcome from our host was great and there was good communication throughout the stay. Would highly recommended a stay here!

We stayed in a lovely, spacious apartment on the fourth floor. We were a family of four and had plenty of space.

The apartment was impeccably clean, very well equipped, including two bathrooms, kitchen with all appliances, spacious lounge TV, Wi-Fi, etc.

Location is excellent – 2 minutes from the Teatro Politeamo and shopping streets, only 10 minutes from Teatro Massimo, and the Vucciara district and 15 minutes from Quattro Canti and Palazzo dei Normani.

On street parking outside, although you’ll do well to find a space and private car park with valet parking only one minute walk away.

Lots of good restaurants within a few minutes walk.

Alessia was super helpful when we made the booking and checking in, giving us tips on where to go and see, etc.

This stay was by far one of our favourites. The balcony’s opened up to a beautiful view of Palermo streets and the cleanliness of the rooms/bathrooms was exceptional.

The kitchen had everything (oven, dishwasher, washing machine, sink, microwave, fridge) and utensils.

Alessia, the host could speak English and was super accommodating. She recommended us tours, sent us links to hire umbrellas at Mondello and re-suppled kitchen materials.

The location of the stay is convenient, and there is free parking outside (however you would be lucky to find a park) plus, the supermarket is just down the road.

Would 100% stay here again, if you’re looking for a Modern Italian Apartment with sensational views.
