My sister and I attended a wedding in July.fell in love with sicily.stayed at the piazza borsa hotel.received 5 star treatment in a fabulous room.the staff however excelled themselves each as nice as the other.particular mention of laura.i would highly recommend this place for a break.
Stayed here for 2 nights before another international flight. Staff is attentive and helpful. Rooms are spacious and clean. Bathroom was large with full tub. Cloister has a beautiful fountain and breakfast was amazing!! Walking distance to historic sites, cathedral, opera house, shopping, restaurants. 15 minute walk from train/bus station.
We were 5 couples who were aged above 65, from Mumbai, India. We were totally vegetarians, but all the chefs were very cordial and cooperative and used to cook us something or the other in veg dishes , which made us very comfortable. More than that they even used to heat up our Indian food in microwave and give us. We are very grateful to them. On the reception counter, there was Ms Flurry or Flory, who went out of the way to help us in translating Italian to English spoken by our driver. The rooms of the hotel were huge and fantastic. We truly enjoyed our stay here. Thanks to all the staff and members of the hotel.
I stayed here for two nights on a recent visit to Sicily. The location of the hotel is very nice - near many good restaurants and shops and also in close proximity to many of the sites one would want to visit in Palermo. The rooms were fine and comfortable. The internet was not completely reliable but adequate. The air conditioning worked well and could be adjusted in the room. My breakfasts there were also quite good.
The Grand Hotel Piazza Borsa is centrally located in the historic section of Palermo. Common spaces include a huge, well-appointed atrium onto which many guest rooms open and a grand salon used for breakfast. Rooms are on the smaller side but comfortable and with upgraded baths. One necessary improvement would be for the front desk staff to be nicer (more friendly and helpful) to guests rather than brusque.
Impressive exterior but really under delivers. I’d guess that a significant part of their customers are older, monied Americans, as this seems to be ground zero for a lot of tour groups. Pros: great location for shops/restaurants/street markets, historic unique building, interior atrium, very clean, spacious rooms and bathrooms, nice towels, quiet part of town, with no night noise. Cons: My main gripes are beds and breakfast; kind of critical in this business! Beds are glorified cots. Has no one in marketing stayed in the average American hotel that obsess about bed and linen quality? All of us are jet lagged the entire time we’re here and desperately need to sleep. Wow, the breakfast is a sad affair! Tired old stuffy setup with heavily draped tables and white coat waiters makes it feel like a seniors facility, or perhaps a dull convention hotel in anyplace USA. The food summary: Hard to find enough to eat and not leave hungry. Terrible cold scrambled eggs, earlier reviews advised to special order eggs, so I did and they were inedible. No fresh fruit, only canned. On the positive side, good juice/coffee, bread rolls/croissants/cakes. So many cakes.…
The Grand Hotel was a beautiful resort. The staff was impeccably trained, spoke English and were cordial throughout our stay. The grounds were stunning and the restaurant food delicious. Our stay was perfect.
This slightly outdated but still in great shape hotel is perfectly situated in the center of the city. Walking distance to practically everything. Quiet and rooms are comfortable with very decent beds. Only had breakfast, which was basic but plentiful and very good service. Only two negative points : weak WiFi on the fourth floor and front desk service. WiFi is rather technical and can be easily boosted with a router or two…no big deal. However, the cold and impersonal front desk service was a bit of a put off. Wouldn’t help with tickets to anywhere. No decent restaurant recommendations. Early checkout, as we were leaving at 6 am next morning, not possible- too complicated. It seems that they still adhere to an outdated old idea that cold and snobby means posh and sophisticated. In 2022, it is not. Service means helpful and competent. Not having four people behind the counter and no one has an answer to a simple request. Great place in a perfect location!…
amazing place, staff has been lovely and room was PERFECT. I totally fall in love with Palermo and Sicilian people. I studied Italian for a long time and here I felt at home. I recommend this hotel to enjoy the city to the fullest.
This hotel is massive having been a large central bank. It was renovated about 10 years ago and I think has a large conference business. It also has a large atrium where it hosts parties and weddings. Luckily the rooms are well insulated for noise but it was a worry. The rooms are large and comfortable. The bathrooms had a good shower and the water was always hot. There is a mini bar which is stocked but extremely expensive. There is no free water provided. The room had no information about services which mean you have to call for any questions. There is a kettle in the room but getting Cups and the tea and coffee to be refilled was exhausting. The breakfast covered all basics. You can ask for coffees and eggs to be cooked. Nothing tells you this. The staff are slow and either uninterested or overworked. The bar was very warm, but drinks can be taken into the atrium. They made good cocktails. The prices were reasonable for the quality. Overall it’s ok, but with the grandeur of the building it slightly under delivers. It’s ok for a day or two, I would not recommend longer. …
