We (a group of 6 friends) stayed for 2 nights (3 DBLB rooms). Fotos are always very nice, but the fact is that the hostal is not yet finished and it was hard for us to believe they had been like this for 6 months now! - not even a sign on the front door with a name, nor were they attending our phone calls upon arrival.
Rooms were nice, but not finished. still with open electric installation, not able to connect two devices at a time, missing hairdryer in one room, TV in other, no hangers, no chair in another room etc. When asking for an additional key to be able to have some independence with my room mate, I was told this was not possible. Couldn't we just call each other when we needed to go back to the hostal ?????? after some discussion finally one extra key turned up, but we had to change the room in order to make it work. Breakfast is still served in one of the 'not yet finished' bedrooms, and thus nice there we no plain bread nor milk for the coffee. When requesting this one of the 2 persons overseeing the breakfast went down to buy this. I need to say they were very attentive. No equipped toilet for guests downstairs (no paper, no towels) and finally. The signal of the promised Wifi did not make it to all rooms and failed most of the time.

This pension is right in the old centre in small dark back street by St Dominico close to restaurants. Stayed in 2 rooms for 1 night. Arrived 10pm and was pleased to be directed to adjacent lively square serving BBQ eats till late all with friendly service. St Dominico square was a rip off with bad service, mega prices and had to ask for change so avoid.
Others have mentioned street noise but I slept like a log although I did close the balcony double glazed doors.
Very clean, having just been refurbed to good standard in rustic style.
Breakfast was a friendly occasion and was a very adequate buffet with home made cakes and pastries, breads, fresh fruit, delicious fresh pressed orange juice and excellent coffee but no cerial, cheese or meats.
Aircon was an extra 5E per night. City sights are just a 10 minute walk and railway station is 15 mins.
Free wi-fi although as often best in reception and nil on top floor. Vito speaks good English and was ever so helpul in arranging for me to visit their sister pension so I could print some documents all free of charge.
Arrival TIP- As with many pensions the owners don’t live in but they do the man reception for much of the day which was handy as we left bags after our 10am checkout so if you are arriving at an odd time ensure you have the mobile number of the owners, which they had emailed to me. Also the taxi dropped us of 200 metres away on the main drag and then we could not find the place as there was no street number or name on the pension but I think that will have been added by now.
Taxi from airport was (50E negotiated at airport) but before 6pm you book at desk for E45.
All in all a very pleasant short stay before departing by train to Taormina via 3 hours in Catania which was an excellent journey.

PROS - big rooms, comfortable beds, friendly and relaxed staff, excellent breakfast
CONS - Wi-fi didn't work well on third floor, construction works in building next door from 8am til 6/7pm, inner city location - dirty lanes and rotting fish rubbish on market nearby, street noise.

I would say its more like a higher rate hostel. While its certainly a cultural experience to stay just off the Vucciria market, I wouldn't recommend it as a relaxing holiday experience.

Dear Mr. Laobhaise, We are pleased to read the positive aspects of your feedback and we deeply appreciate them, thank you. About the negative aspects: We are sorry if WI-Fi worked slow during your stay, but we assure we have already solved that problem and now it works well. Apologies for the noise of the next door building, but it is unfortunately beyond our control. It is a temporary problem which is going to terminate soon. Vucciria has a traditional lively atmosphere on Saturday night, some people like it although it may cause some noise. About the rubbish of the fish shop, it is absolutely out of the sight and of the smell from the balconies of our B&B, we are not exactly sure if it can be considered a negative point… Thank you for your feedback.

The only good thing about the property is its location. It is right in the middle of the old town. But then, again, it is impossibly hard to find and it is in a secluded street in the middle of building works. I stayed there for 6 nights and during the first 2 nights there was no hot water. There is no air conditioning. There is no phone in the room. The room is not cleaned daily, but only if you request. There is no reception. There is no option for wake up call. There is no lift, which should be mentioned for older people.

At breakfast, there is no savory option: just fruit and old cakes.

The staff seemed very keen to get rid of me and on the morning of departure they knocked on my door repeatedly from 10.00am. Frankly, I am appalled and will never stay there again. I will not recommend it to any of my friends either.

There are much better properties within the same price range.

How to avoid this guest's difficulties: - Follow the simple road information we send: that will make your arrival easy. - The lack of hot water was a temporary and totally extraordinary problem of the whole distrct; it was beyond our responsability, yet we're sorry for it. - All rooms are cleaned every monrning until 12:00. If you want your room to be cleaned, please leave the room before that time, unlike this lady did. - Please, read your booking deatails: it is said that we don't have lift and that it is possible to have air condition with a suppplementary cost. It is also possible to ask for a room in the 1st floor when you make your reservation. - You are booking a cheap B&B, so please, have realistic aspettation: phone and option for wake up call are hotel services. - If you need assistence, you can turn to us even with a whatsapp message, we'll come to help you immediatly. - We prepare home made cakes every day for a tipical Sicilian breakfast. - Please, rispect some simple rules: check out time is at 11:00. Unlike this lady says, she stayed inside the room till 12:00, that forced us to knock several times.

Very good value for the money ! Right in the centre, therefore street noise from local bars and cafes, need to close shutters. Very clean, building redone in old style, lighting could be improved in the corridors. Shower is a bit mini in size, plenty hot water. Breakfast on the ground level, very adequate buffet with home made pastries, breads and croissants, freshly pressed orange juice, lots of fresh fruit but no cornflakes, cheese or other. Order coffee the way you like.
Small family restaurant TOTO in the alley one minute away, excellent fish.

It is hard to review this place.
On one hand location is very good in the centre of Palermo and the staff are very friendly (though very few of them speak any English).

On the other hand, hotel is a construction zone with most of the rooms lacking AC - or for that matter most of any furniture aside from bed.

In the first room we were given shower was dysfunctional and we had a mini flood first night. Kitchenette (which was advertised) was not installed yet (one could see the hookups in the wall where it was supposed to go together with the separate hookups for the future AC).
Second room did have kitchenette but was also next the part of the building under construction - leading to loud noises in the mornings just behind our wall.
Whole hotel felt bare and just put together (including room numbers on paper stuck to doors with scotch tape).

Additional problem was actually finding the hotel which is in a narrow lane and has no visible signage nor even a street number. Once we did find it it took us some doing to attract the attention of the proprietors, as the door bell seemed to be not connected yet.

Area around hotel looks discouraging at first sight (which admittedly holds for most of Palermo) but is quite pleasant and lively at night.

Hotel breakfast was decent but unexceptional except the excellent fresh croissants and strawberry juice.

I can not recommend this hotel now - but would gladly come by in few years to see if it all has been made to work.

Dear Guests, We are sorry to read your bad feedback although we did solved all your problems you might have had. We fear that your disappointment is caused by a missunderstanding you had with your travel agency which guarateed to you a room with kitchen although it confirmed an ONLYROOM service to us, as you could clearly see in our deal with your agency. Although the kitchen was NOT included in our deal, we gave you a room with kitchen hoping to please you. And you looked to be glad to get a Quadruple room which now you define “not finished yet” which actually includes: - Kitchen with fridge, electric oven, table and chairs - Toilet with services, shower, towells and hairdryer - A well-furnished bedroom with wardrobe and bedside tables - Television - Working Wi-Fi connection We are sorry if the number of the room made with paper was a reason of complaint for you, we didn’t think that could be a problem for our guests, nor has it ever been but this time. We are sorry for the noise from the building beside us, but it is beyond our control and responsibility. The historical center of Palermo is made of little, narrow streets, feature which is considered to have charm for many, and the very central district of Vucciria is abslolutely safe as a total lack of problems can prove it. We think daily breakfast with home-made cakes, fresh fruits, fresh juices, croissants, eccetera could be considered more than decent, and after all you looked to really enjoy it… You also took advantage for free of our luggage checkroom which although it is NOT included in our deal and it is totally free and guaranteed for all our dear guests. Thank you anyway for your feedback.

An oasis of calm and genuine hospitality in the centre of Palermo's Vucciria district, the B&B is spacious, spotlessly clean, and offers a wonderful breakfast buffet. Fabulous fresh fruit salad, great coffees, fruit smoothies and a gorgeous selection of fresh-baked cakes made daily on the premises. Our room was modern and airy and very comfy, a great place to relax after busy days seeing the sights--and the B&B is perfectly located, an easy walk to all the city's major sights and great food shops. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Have just come back from 4 nights in Sicily and enjoyed a lovely stay here. We arrived late at night after braving the crazy streets of palermo, and were met by Mr Vito who very kindly helped us park the car and even had time to mark out some places of interest on the street map he provided.
The room was lovely and very clean and on the corner which meant 2 lovely balconies. Breakfasts were very nice too, fresh fruit and delicious coffee and cakes.
Really couldnt have asked for a better location, within walking distance to everything we wanted including lively bars with street food just around the corner which were excellent value...glass of prosecco and bottle of beer 4 euros!!! Yes there is some building work going on but it didnt affect our stay at all and we wouldnt hesitate to recommend. Thank you for helping to make our trip to Sicily so wonderful
